The first cable he was referring to in this video as being the clutch cable is actually the "choke cable."

Great to see the step by step. I bought my first bike (not running) and took on removing the carbs right away. Hahah.. oh man. Thanks for all the videos. They were crucial in getting me through doing my own. Gave me the knowhow to get them off and the reference to get them back on. Now with the carbs back on and a new battery the bike idles like crap haha... second time I tried to start it, it was irradically idleing around 5k rpms with no way to make it go back down. Messing with the choke or throttle wouldnt do anything. Shut the bike off and the oil level is way above the "high limit". Anyway.. maybe ill make a video of whatever I wrench on tomorrow. Wish I had the ear shave done. It took me about 2 hours to get mine out and I swear it took about 3 hours just to get the damn things back on the cylinders. Thanks again!!

When removing the carbs, the rubber manifold between the FRONT cylinder and the carburetor remains on the cylinder head, the rubber manifold between the REAR cylinder and the carburetor comes off with the carburetors. You DO NOT remove the throttle cables until you have the carburetors out. I converted mine to a single cable setup, which is what all bikes used to have. You need the cable that OPENS the throttle. The other one serves no purpose, other than to create more friction in the system, and is just something else that can bind or break. If the actual throttle cable breaks, the throttle spring will close the throttle. I've done this job about 5 times on three different Vulcan 750s. Mine all still had the complete intake system in place. It's a time consuming job, a lot of stuff needs to be removed to make room, but done right, it's not that difficult. He should have made the video in the daytime. The glare from that light makes it almost impossible to see anything.

Ay I had a question. Not sure if you check comments from videos this old, but hoping you might. I was wondering where you got those magnetic LED lights for your bike? Have a Vulcan I'd like to add some accents to, and that would certainly make customizing it easier. Thanks! Also nice seeing you're still posting stuff. Your Carb videos were extremely helpful. Stay safe!

"I think this is the ...." - not something you want to hear from someone working on your bike....

Is this the same process for 1987 Vulcan as well?

According to Wiki they are pretty much the same bike from 85-06.
