ABOUT TJ:
TJ Tollakon is the original Dimond owner and the accomplished CEO of Ruster Sports/ Dimond Bikes. Tollakson began racing in 2001 and proved himself a force to be reckoned with out on the bike course from there on out. TJ is a proud husband and father to 3 children. You can usually find him pounding the pavement in Des Moines, IA or tinkering with his newest idea at the Dimond Bikes headquarters.
TJ has 10 Ironman podium finishes under his belt, with his favorite being his Mont Tremblant victory. After a bumpy road filled with surgeries and numerous setbacks, TJ used this race to prove he is at his prime and leads the pack. His latest accolade is an IM PR of 8:04:17 at IM Arizona.

I hit the wall all three times mile 20. This time I will follow this 2-1 day carb load for 2023 NYC Marathon. Thanks for the advice and video.

Keep up the videos. Some of the science was not accurate but still good video. E.g. muscle glycogen around 400-500g with carb load plus 100g in liver. Also the diet pre race seemed too high in fat and protein. Main thing is 10g carbs per kilo of body weight for 3 dayz pre race

The maths are completely off, your body can handle way more carbs and calories (definitively if you train your gut)

The majority of the population, even very fit people will not burn a 1k calories in 1 hr. Burning 1k calories in 1hr takes is very hard to do. I would guess 99% of people wouldn’t make it past an hr at the effort needed.

I’m 150 lbs and pretty fit, running a 10k in about 50 minutes is only about 650 calories for me close to 800 total, but to hit 1000 per hour I’m risking extreme fatigue or injury haha
