Having owned an Australian made Carberry, one of only two 998cc bike that Paul built, I can reliably inform you that these really are great bikes. Horsepower doesn’t tell the story as these engines have stump pulling torque. The clutch is a weakness but Paul would have had that sorted for the Indian production models. Sadly things didn’t work out for Paul so I guess you will only be able to see them in museums now. What might have been?

RE just released the new 650cc paralell twin here in the USA, which was done due to so much interest in old british twins & has gotten alot of positive reviews, I admit the bike looks fantastic & will be more reliable than its oil leaking british forbears & will go over 100mph. Its a shame that the Carberry wasnt released as it looks awesome & w/the exhausts the way they are looks alot like a Vincent/HRD ( one of the most desirable motorcycles in the world). Indian motorcyle manufacturing has increased tremendously as even the old 500cc single being recognized worldwide for its beautifull clasic styling, the world is realizing that India is producing great bikes from the smallest to larger bikes. Bajaj is producing the clasic metal bodied Vespa which still has millions of fans worldwide & Ive been told Honda has opened a factory there under the name Hero Motorcyles & everyone knows how reliable & affordable Hondas are. Harley Davidson has opened a factory there & its smallest bikes ( the 500 & 750cc v twins are allready selling worldwide ). Its just a shame that the Carberry Royal Enfield isnt being produced ( possibley due to worry of competing with HD who is making a motor 250cc smaller & putting out the same HP as the larger Carberry ). There is an alternative though as a young Indian Amerian is currently producing both 750 & 1000cc motors & bikes here in the USA under the name Musket. There are many positive reviews of this bike & complete engines, complete motorcyles as well as engine kits are available. The Musket company is currently backlogged with orders as it seems that they are far more popular than thought & their creator didnt know his bikes would be recieved so well by the public. i think this company would be a great investment potential if the factory could be expanded to @ least double or triple its current output . its a shamethe Carberry isnt produced as well as that Musket hasnt been propperly invested in & expanded. Hopefuly one day these beautifull bikes will be easily available to the motorcyle riding public @ large, til then Ill have to content myself w/riding a 2nd hand bike that only cosmeticly resembles one of these great bikes as well as dream of getting a Cozy Sidecar (which resemble the famous Stieb sidecars that are light enough to be pulled by a 125cc scooter,& do daily worldwide ) . Thank you all for taking the time to read this , my appologies for any errors & I wish you all many year of safe riding .

53 BHP? is that it? I wonder if RE will ever make a real 900 or 1000cc motorbike. I love my 650 but really, a similar package with power nearing a Triumph is needed from RE

Ya re could have upgraded but indians would not have approved bike for4. 5 lakhs thts why re doesnt move to v twin but now perception is change and it would work now

An attempt on twin is ideal but the noise generated isn't keeping with the Royal Enfield of yester years. Enfield should maintain the original beat of the engine. Don't build engines with higher power if the beat is taken out. The beat is the main thing that captivates the young nd old towards RE because its so different from all other bikes.

Merci LVM ! ;-)

Please put in mind few points 1. Small automobile companies never flourished in India, blame it to automobile cartel. 2. Earlier due to closed economy the automobile companies only made profits and less emphasis on rnd. Result, today there is no remarkable progress in their technology. 3. You people dont have approval of your bike from government agencies, so mass production and public sale is almost impossible. 4. People contacted you for outlets, you people were more or less disinterested, i dont know why. 5. You ask 3.5 to 3.75 lakhs for engine only. After that we have to get our chassis modified. It will not match the macho engine size. 6. Pricing due to lower production or technically capacity utilisation. 7. Your concept is not flexible, i mean, customer can give you ci engines and you just make engines and sell at lower prices. After that we use it at our own risk. Paying 3.5 lakhs to 4 lakhs is not a wise decision.

With the low horsepower and low revving over built engine (massive bearings, high oil flow) I suspect these engines will give many many years of trouble-free running.

All said and done, this looks like Enfield's pregnant !!! A whole lotta makeover was necessary. The bulge in the tummy must be balanced by beefier tyres, bigger tank, thicker frame, bigger suspensions and some fairings and chrome here and there. Things are out of proportion as of now. Just my opinion.
