Im soooo darn glad I bought my Shapeoko Pro this past year - I was paranoid about which brand of machine to go with, screw driven vs belt, software learning curves, support, reliability etc. - all valid questions and concerns for a seasoned woodworker but one who's totally new to cnc, I'm so thrilled you all built a great product coupled with a great company. Glad to support you, Cheers.

When will you guys add a ramp tool path setting for endmill plunge?

It's on the to-do list but I'm not sure when we'll get to that one. In many cases it's easy, but it's the edge cases where it can fall apart so it'll probably take a while to get right.

As a beginner, I started to watch a tutorial on how to use carbide create. So I spent half an hour following the guide.....Only to find there was no export of gcode on version 7 which made the whole thing pointless. Nice and simple but without gcode I'm looking elsewhere.
@carbide3d2 жыл бұрын
You can upgrade to Pro, which outputs G-Code and comes with several new features, or use Version 6 of Create, or buy a Carbide 3D machine. Plenty of options

@gordonwood2 жыл бұрын
You can save the file from Carbide Create, open it in Carbide Motion and then export the gcode. No license required. According to the groups this is to reduce the number of support calls from non-carbide users as Carbide Motion needs to be connected to a Carbide machine to work. It is a clumsy way to restrict support support to paying customers (either the license or the machine) which also punishes paying customers. It should be made clear to start with that support is only available to paying customers.

It is painful, that this software still does not exist for Linux. This is somewhat surprising, as the kind of users that would use CNC machines are makers and also the kind of users who typically use Linux as their daily driver. I have many computers, but do not have any Windows or Mac machine in my personal workshop. When I got my machine a few years ago, I was bummed that it did not have any software support for the most common operating system in the maker world. Currently I am manually creating the CAM outputs for my Nomad with various means but I could've gotten started easier back then. It would _really_ be good if it was a priority to support a large part of the target group of the Carbide machines.
@vetramiga12 жыл бұрын
most common operating system in the maker world is linux? what planet are you on? considering how heavily adobe software is used in the maker world (and everywhere else) i very much doubt that
@HennerZeller2 жыл бұрын
@@vetramiga1 Of course also Windows and Macs are used. But compared to the general population, Linux is much more used in the maker world than, say, advertising companies. I know many makers and don't know anyone using Windows, and only a few who use a Mac.

I had replied to another comment but looks like it was deleted.. anyway I am extremely disappointed that this version doesn’t export native gcode. This directly goes against statements on the main web page saying “It’s free to use for everyone, whether you own a Carbide 3D machine or not.” (Copied directly from the carbide 3D home page as of the time of this comment - I wonder if it will stay there…) I have been using carbide create for the past year or so on a cheap Chinese CNC machine. I was hoping to eventually upgrade to a shapeoko, but if a company pulls stunts like this I am going to rethink supporting them. There are better options out there. Please, Carbide3D, please rethink this decision and re-add support for exporting gcode!

Version 6 of the software will continue to be available for a long time. The free version of V6 retains the ability to export G-Code. Additionally, Create is not cloud based.

I use to love the software but now your removing to ability to save gcode for the free users in an effort to punish other brand cncs like onefinity which only needs to gcode to run. your website use to say something about easy to use software for all cnc brands now its been removed. in my opinion I feel this is anticompetitive against other brand cnc. I want to use your great product. Unfortunately the only way I will be able to use your newest versions of carbide create is the pay the ransom price and move on or switch to vcarve pro. I hope you are rethinking this decision but am worried its going to fall on deaf ears and will not come back to us free to use users.
