Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL) are Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Vadestrid , both born in 1976 and based in Göteborg, south¬west Sweden. They met when both 15 and are still, amazingly, working happily together, over 25 years later. CBL itself was formed in 1996, as an offshoot from other projects, but it soon became their focal point, culminating in their first release on ‘mp3.com’ in 1998. The duo signed with the celebrated Lyon¬ based ‘Ultimae’ label in 2002 and went independent in 2014 To date they have released six official, full length albums and is one of the biggest names in their genre.
CBL aim to combine earth and space in their music. Using the combination of nature and technology as the main inspiration for their work, they like to represent both the positive and negative effects that this collaboration can lead to.
CBL are frequently present among the headliners of the biggest Psytrance festivals across Europe and have done many shows in Russia and even USA and Australia.

This one helped me to get through the death of my wife. I have been listening to it a lot, while walking around the place I lived in back then. Usually late at night, with stars all around and the music in my headphones. Took my thoughs off of all the problems, even if it was only for a few minutes. It was like a panacea to a bleeding soul. I went through something similar when my dad died suddenly of a heart attack in 2003 when I was only 15. My family unit collapsed, many years of being lost in the darkness. I got deeply into spirituality and finally found god through mystical experiences and dreams. I got all my answers and healing and god gave me a new family and even set me up with my future wife. Words are not enough to express what your and Solar Fields' music have done to me over the course of my life. I found you in the year 2009 when I was 16 and badly depressed. From your music I began to explore feelings of wonder that I had lost some years before that. The journey has been long and whilst I still battle with some internal demons I am a lot better now. And your music has always been there. Driving, sleeping, studying, wandering. Dancing, partying, crying, in times of sadness, happiness, wonder and even anger, it has found it's way into every nook and cranny of my being and I still can't get enough of it. I saw you guys live in Finland in 2017 and I wasn't in a very good mood at the time. Still your music found a way to make it better and allow me to open up to myself and lose myself in thoughts and feelings and the sound of your art. I love you guys and wish you all the best

I discovered CBL through Derelicts, and as I expanded and explored all your albums, I found the healing I needed so much. I've been through a lot in life. A lot of pain, loss, and abuse. I lost any semblance of a family when I was young, and since then I've been sort of lost, a bit of a misfit... But when I listen to this music... I leave this earth and journey to the stars. And I find myself at peace. I find myself home. Your music is a journey away from pain. And I thank you for the effect it's had on my heart. 💙
