Kattakkada MLA I.B. Sathish interviews M.R Hari who created Prof. Miyawaki Memorial live Nature Lab in Mylamoodu, Puliyarakonam, Trivandrum. Hari explains the technique of creating Miyawaki model forest in small areas too. The area is developed as a natural forest which is a Nature Lab where visitors can see and experience how nature creates the surroundings to protect flora and fauna in it. Visitors can see techniques of water conservation minimal use of water for maintaining good vegetation. Nature lab exhibits techniques by which even apartment dwellers can create basic vegitable garden. How nature reacts to human intervention or non intervention is described through posters which you can experience in the field there itself. Visitors can see numerous endanged plants and trees, wild flowers, medicinal plants etc in this forest.
Land restoration is the idea behind creating miyawaki forests. Land restoration involves the cessation of degradation or the rehabilitation of degraded land, often achieved through practices such as reforestation, soil conservation, and the safeguarding of natural processes.
