Looks like a lot of thought went into the design. Gotta respect that.

Thanks for your review! I just finished implementing your thoughts in an updated design for the Pro variant of this chassis!

The kit looks like a good product. I think bringing this kind of product to our attention is a good idea.

I built a thunder dragon a year ago. A real neat buggy. The drive shaft is a bit cheesy, but I'm going to make a new one from stainless steel bar stock.

I usually have the on/off switch face downward since that makes it easier to switch after the body is attached/before removing the body right after driving

From the outset Gavin, I love this modification. I was never a fan of the plastic bath tub chassis that were of that period. That being said, they took a beating on and off the track week in and out, so I have no animosity toward them. I can see, within the first glimpses, it's turned this car into something special and a higher calibre RC car and I'm only at 0:49. I am sure after this video they will be swamped with orders and that's all I want for Christmas from Tamiya owners to their significant partners😁. Cool build my friend and thumbs way up!!

I've just been working on a Thunder Dragon overhauling all those bits that are fragile ie front/rear gearbox mounts and general flexing rigidity. I'm just getting it together when I see this! What a cool way to tackle those issues. Looks trick too. I'm slightly pit off by that prop but very interested on the whole. Thanks for show casing it.

I had the center shaft on some custom TAO1/2 and would make the shaft from brass tubing and flatten the ends to fit in the slots. it was a TA02 using TA01 rear arms

Looks awsome, its good to see people spending time to produce some upgrades/bling for cars. I can see your concern for the steering, i guess time will tell 👍
@David-0692 жыл бұрын
Those gold alloy upgrade parts for the Tamiya Thunder shot / fire dragon/ Terra scorcher/ all the other chassis’s I can’t remember the names of are excellent replacements for those weak plastic parts.
@jjm29486 ай бұрын
It’s already front heavy and oversteers. Thinking the rearward battery location is a bit better for this particular chassis

That’s just waaaaaaaay toooo niiiiiiiiiiice, i really really really want it lol 😝 Hey Gavin, don’t forget to run a bead of super glue along the edges of the carbon fibre to stop it splitting.

Hi there yes very interesting i would of thought the original chassis Offers more protection to the radio gear with it being a tub chassis it has the top cover as well my concern is a lots of dirt can enter into the chassis area really easily through the sides yes not 100% sold on it i am afraid. You know the saying don’t fix something that isn’t broken.

Not keen on the main driveshaft / propshaft solution that needs more work on the part of the conversion kit. Can a longer one be purchased? Or can it be made longer?

Not sure if Tamiya make a longer option. An RCKicks Patreon kindly said he can make one if I send him the specs.

There were a couple at my local club, the owners were not impressed. Both had a few drivetrain issues and a hell of an appetite for front arms. Can’t be sure how much of that was the truck’s fault but they were driven by people that do just fine in the TT02 class at the same club.
