Can you take this off? Like this may be a dumb question but without it there its just a panel that you take off and replace with this right?

Nice job. Been wanting to order one my self but was afraid of fitment issues.

Rodney Romero Yeah it's always a potential issue. I had the Tom's style fibre glass version from MR2Ben on my old N/A MR2 and it fit perfectly.

Is your carbon scoop from China?
@MrBoostLee6 жыл бұрын
Rodney Romero No I got it from a guy on Facebook. He got it from a show and I know exactly which stall. They make all of their own parts. I've never seen them have MR2 parts so it is possible this particular one is a one off. Hence fitment issues.

Put the bomex back on IMO! Only b.c the bomex is more low profile. Belive it or not that little gap that the bomex has for air intake does take in alot of air...now of course that carbon fiber scoop will grab a bit more. I just like the more low profile look. Either one works ofcourse! Good video@

How do these air scoops work? Seems like the air will be forced into the engine bay from the top. I do believe we want the air flow from the bottom to pushes the heat thru the engine bays grill.

A very true statement. The inlet filter sits directly below it so it's to try and get fresh air in a stop heat soak. As soon as I get around to making more videos I will show my cold air trap. I've basically built a wall that runs along the edge of the scoop all the way to the bottom so it is now extremely functional.

That fitment is very much incorrect in the end. this scoop is known for pressing hard on that paint due to an oops during styling. the simple efficient solution is to cut a small square out in the scoops "throat" where the paint touches it. this way when you install the scoop, that section wont make contact. with enough skill, the hole cannot be seeen when scoop is installed. (no it doesnt matter if air is going through that hole, as vacuum leaks arent a concern on this scoop)

those tom scoops are useless the design of airflow it to create a low pressure zone above the engine lid, the fan in the engine bay draws air in! to then pass out throught the vent s in the lid, all those scoops do is mess up the airflow, on one of my 2s in the turbo lid rain tray, mounted a fan to draw the air out up through the vents, the engine bay temps dropped right down when it kicked in
