Thank you for your comment. The gas pressure does not rise even if the lid is closed. Gas escapes through the gap in the lid. It also smells when firing!

Thank you for your comment. I think this technique can be done with any clay. However, please note that the color will change depending on the type of clay. There may be little change with white clay.

炭化焼成を初めてやってみました。 籾殻と炭をまばらに入れて素焼きはせずやったのですが、下半分は黒くなり上半分が気泡がでてぶくになっています。 触ったらパリパリでやすったらぼろぼろと削れます。 ちなみにガス窯です。 原因とかわかりますでしょうか？

何でしょうね？粘土に不純物が多いのですかね？ 炭を入れずにやればブクは解消されると思いますが、色の変化は出てしまいます。 同じ器を何度か焼成すると色味が深くなる傾向があります。

I'm excited to try it once I make my firebox :) By the way, I don't know if someone reviews the subtitles, but I think around 10:39 when it says "unglazed" it should be "bisque" or "bisque fired". Sometimes translation is really difficult, especially with very technical things like this. I hope it helps :)

サヤに炭を多めに入れて炭化焼成したら、結構真っ黒になりました。　見込みに3号透明釉薬をかけたところは、グレーに仕上がりました。　還元と炭化で炭の量の加減は難しそうです。

そうですね！ 還元については、少量の炭でも還元がかかります。そこに釉薬が加わるとさらに色々と難しそうですね！ 炭化焼成については無釉でも良いと思います。

Thank you for your comment. I don't think that much smoke will be emitted when firing rice husks in a fire box. But it smells like it's burning. Since it is fired in an electric kiln, it is expected that the rice husks will ignite at around 300 ° C to 400 ° C.

窯変もでしたが籾殻の姿に興味ありです。 籾殻の白と黒は燃焼度合の違いでしょうか？中心部の籾殻が黒いのは酸欠で不完全燃焼になったままだからでしょうか？ （だとすればサヤ内は強還元状態ですね）炭化は酸化焼成では難しいのでしょうか？・・・素人ですみません。 ２度目が濃く出ているのはやはり炭素量を多く浴びているということですか？

コメントありがとうございます。 中心部の籾殻が黒いのは、仰る通り不完全燃焼だと思います。強還元かは微妙ですね・・・。 サヤの中にいれて、しかも茶碗と茶碗の間にある部分が黒いので、中で不完全燃焼の部分が出来ているのではないでしょうか？ 2度目焼成が黒くなっているのは、器がより焼締った感があります。2度焼きした器の方がサイズが小さくなっているので、一度目の焼成はそれほど高温になっていなかったのでは無いかと想像しています。 もう少し焼成を重ねないと何とも言えませんが、そんなイメージです。
