But that's the real brilliance here, there is still comedy in this fight. When the Prisoner suddenly shield-rushes Malenia, or the Guy pulls out the hammers? Those moments are really funny!! -- but not in the way that detracts from the dramatic tension of the epic battle. This is some really brilliant scripting, here.

A lot of people have pointed out how epic this episode is. I share their views, but I'd like to point out exactly what it is that makes this one in particular hit home so hard: It is an actual fight. A genuine, honest to god fight. We have seen our tarnished achieve victory before. We have seen him exploit weaknesses, we have seen him come out on top in both desperate and extremely silly ways. And we have also seen him flail around, screaming and dying, while trying to come up with some desperate gambit to turn it all around. But we have never seen him stand his ground and FIGHT. I think it's fitting that it took Malenia of all bosses to bring this out in him. There's something about her pride, her fury, and her relentless straightforward raw skill that forces anyone who fights her long enough to square up and put everything on the line. A fine display, tarnished. Now prepare to witness true horror. :3

The details on this... Frenzy caster getting picked off first after launching a single-hit spell (which Malenia is coded to always dodge) because he made the first attack and triggered agro... Prisoner still having no helm, keeping with continuity, shield charging to stagger and throwing away her shield to two-hand her spear, then gets grab animation'd... And the main boy putting his full strength build to use with not just Lion's Claw ash of war, but Dual Hammers!! And dodging Waterfowl!?? This is 100% meeting my high expectations.

I feel like pulling my hair out for the hosts who don't get the menu. I am being summoned for Promised consort and I run straight to draw the aggro and keep defending but host like a buffoon jumps in and gets killed the first opportunity he gets to roll.

Many times I threw myself as a sacrifice for the boss when I was summon and bosses HP was down in hopes that my de-aggro would give host good enough opening to kill the boss. You never know most of the time :(

This reminds me of DBZ Abridged, a show that basically turned every line into a joke, and yet when Gohan went SSJ2, they played it 100% serious and totally stuck the landing. We really have progressed, havnt we? Our guy started out a bumbeling, squishy grape to be crushed by anything or anyone. From invader to boss, all he could do was run away. But as the show moved on, he got better. Actually fighting against bosses, still dying of course, but managing to hold his own. And now, look at him. While his summons get crushed, reminiscing about the old times when that would have been him, he dodges Waterfool close up, a feet which most expirienced players cant even pull off, and only gets chipped at the end, he carries the fight for what is likely 80% of it (against a buffed Melania might I add) and fights like an equal in general. He is no longer a weakling, he has become a pretty good player. I cant wait for him to become Elden Lord, only to then face the DLC and complete his character arc as a truly excelent player. Starting a new game again, but this time looking upon it as not a fool, who is yet to expirience the harshness of the souls genre, but a wisend sage, who is no longer afraid. Truly, THIS is characterdevelopment.

You could play StarCraft in the carbot style. All character sprites, maps, and effects were 2D animated. I don’t know if a KZbin animator has ever had such an awesome reception.

Got to Malenia today for the first time and after celebrating my victory on the first try(didn't know about the second phase tho) this video is just perfect! When I first dodged her Waterfowl dance later it felt epic just like the scene from this video. Now everytime I try her I will play this theme in the background. As much as I miss the excellent humour these videos are usually chalked with I think it was for the best that they played this one completely straight not only because of how damn epic and exhilarating it feels to play, especially the process of getting better and better with each consecutive attempt, but the fact that playing it straight and epic can ensure they not only meet our expectations after all the hype but end up actually EXCEEDING THEM.
