Mass with class! Lee is one of my favorite bodybduilders. Never sacrificed size for proportion and symmetry. He also was a masterful poser. I have just subscribed and viewing Lee's clips finding his advice is packed with easy to understand information for something that I have found to be extremely scientific. At 47 , and looking to get back into shape, my body does not react or respond as it used too. I have found your clips so beneficial Lee that I am currently summarizing each with my own notes to plan for my next steps forward. At this stage I am going to view all your clips to develop a more universal knowledge and understanding of the basic mechanics of nutrition, training and supplements before I pose a question to you specifically related to my development. I have subscribed and downloaded the FREE 12 Week Body Transformation that I will go through soon. Thank you so very much and I have been through top level sports at club, regional and national level, BUT i have never come across anyone who is able to make something sound so simple, that is 'in Laman's Terms' for a novice like myself to understand. Hi Lee, great video, thanks for sharing this information. I had a slightly different question though. What if you workout in the morning and don't have a hour and half to wait after eating? What do you suggest for a quick pre workout then?
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Hey Sushav, great question. As I mentioned below Labrada has 2 great pre-workout powders that will give you the boost of energy you may be looking for in the morning. If a pre-workout supplement is not something you would like to try, then possibly power carb is a great second option. Power Carb is a very fast digesting carbohydrate that will provide the energy your body is looking for during your workout. You don't need to eat 1.5 hours before a workout to make the most of your lift, if you can great, if you can't then working out is far better choice then being sedentary. Here's a link to all our Labrada products - www.labrada.com/store/?Session_ID=6ee32ee8d7372a9a6274d219c8f2cfd6 Hope this helps answer your question. All the best.

Lee, but what if I eat fish pre workout and feel hungry half way through my workout? And thanxs for always giving the best advice.
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin, thank you for your question. If you are only eating fish as your pre-workout meal, then you need to add in carbohydrates as mentioned in the video. If you are consuming carbs with your fish, please ensure you are consuming enough carbs. This will be determined by your own personal preference for overall carb intake for the day. We recommend 1.5 to 2 grams of carbs per body pound per day as a starting point. Hope this helps answer your question. All the best.

Should I eat the same pre and post workout meals on my Kickboxing days? I am interested to have max stamina for these training sessions cause I find kickboxing sparring to make me very tired. I am 34 with athletic type of body. Thanks
@Labrada8 жыл бұрын
+diasspeed Thanks for the question, and subscribing to our channel. We recommend that you consume 50% of your total carb intake for the day before and after your workout. So to answer your question yes we recommend the same meal and macro nutrient breakdown before and after your workout. Hope this helps explain things, all the best.
@SingleMalt770059 жыл бұрын
Lee: Thanks for all you coaching videos. My question concerning this one is, are the quantities of protein and carbs you are discussing based on your body weight? I weigh about 163 lbs so do I need to scale the quantities down somewhat for my size? I know I need to consume more to add muscle, just not sure how much and I find it hard to eat so much so often.
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Hey SingleMalt77005, you are exactly right, macro nutrient requirements are based on size. We like to recommend anywhere from 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per body pound per day, along with at least 1.5-2 grams of carbs per body pound per day. While keeping our fats between 15-30 % of our diet. Don't forget your fibrous veggies as well. Hope this helps you out. Thank you for being a part of our YT channel.

*The Protein Chef Sent me* Solid advice man, something I've been practicing for quite a while now. I tend to consume by pwo meal (chicken, brown rice, and some veggies) about an hour before training, sometimes even 45 mins if I'm short on time. Is this okay? I have found that I digest food pretty quickly, although I usually feel relatively full going into my workout.
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
nribaudo255 great question. The answer is unique to each person, if you are hitting the weights with lots of energy and you feel no discomfort in your stomach or digestive system then 45 mins is no problem. Back in the day we use to say yesterdays nutrition fuels today's workout. So we would argue your nutrition for the entire day matters more then your nutrient timing before workouts. Having both on point is the ideal goal! Hope this helps, all the best.
@TRMillerBass8 жыл бұрын
As always, great advice! But wait - the post workout meal and hour after the workout?
@Labrada8 жыл бұрын
Hey TRMillerBass, the timing of your meal can be dependent on many variables, your current goals, the amount of meals you ideally want to consume per day, the macro nutrients desired for that meal, and last but not least also your own natural appetite. Unless your goal is to gain overall body mass we would not recommend eating if you are not hungry. Hope this helps explain things. It's not as cut and dry as "This is your optimal time to eat for everyone". Thanks for the question all the best.

Hi Lee Awesome advice as always . Here's my ? I only workout for 45 minutes with minimum rest . Arthritis has cut down my workload but not my determination . I have a small protein bar an hour before I train . During I take power carb 1 scoop and aminos . After the workout about an hour consume my post workout meal . I work swing shift so I need more smaller meals during my work shift . I was trying not to consume immediately after training and wait an hour . The window of getting the meal in . Is an hour too long? Or would 30-45 minutes be better for my post WO meal ? Thanks Lee
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Hey Norman, since you are consuming around 20-22 grams of carbs during your workout having your post workout meal within an hour of completing your workout is A-OK with us. If you were not consuming carbs during your workout having a post workout meal a little sooner may be advantageous. Thank you for your continued support Norman. All the best!

@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Robert J Great question. As we highly recommend having avocado in your diet, post workout may not be the best idea. Sticking with carbs and proteins post workout would be ideal. Your meal following your post workout meal / shake would be a great time to have that avocado. Hope this helps answer your question. All the best.

Thank you very much for all the videos! I have a quick question. I've been drinking just whey protein (2scoops) for about six months and one of my friends told me I'll get bigger if I take pure carbs and dextrose together with my whey protein. First of all, I would like to ask you whether this is correct and if it is, how much scoops of each I will need after my workout. I'm trying to gain more muscle in general! Also should I get just a regular carb or power carb? Thank you again!
@Labrada8 жыл бұрын
+Eric Hwang Your friend is right, if you want to gain muscle mass a post workout shake with a quick digesting carb is ideal. Most research points to a 2:1 carb to protein ratio to be ideal. For example 80 grams of carbs and 40 grams of whey protein. Power Carb is a great product post workout and can for sure help you reach your fitness goals. Hope this helps answer your question, all the best.
@rdbr21009 жыл бұрын
Lee, that k you very much! Does power carb can be used post workout with whey replacing the bananas? Regards from your biggest fan from Brazil!
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Hey RD BR yes that's exactly what Power Carb is designed for. Hunter (my son) consumes 60-100 grams of power carb after each workout. Typically a 1:1 or 2:1 Power carb to whey protein is a great post workout ratio. If you are trying to gain mass then the 2:1 and even a 3:1 carb to protein ratio may be in order. Hope you're having a great week in Brazil, all the best RD BR!

Awesome video as always, but I enjoyed that one a lot (because of all the animations xD). But as you are talkin' about the post-workout-nutrition (-shake) I got another question. Already in the year 2000 (I think) some scientists came along with the insulin-index of different foods, especially focusing on the insulinogenic effect of different protein-sources. To cut a corner, they found out, that whey protein is highly insulin-producing EVEN when consumed without carbohydrates. Till today (and I really don't know why) the insulin-index of protein hasn't become a big ticket in sports like bodybuilding or dieting at all. In fact, I have to questions about that topic: 1.) What do you think of the insulin-index of protein or do you tink it's any important to our sport/dietingl? 2.) If whey protein already deals with an insulin-output, do I really need to add (a big amount of) carbs to my post-workout-shake? Thx a lot in advance! :)
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Hey MilliNox69, thanks for the question. I haven't read up on any recent research dealing with the insulin index of whey protein, however I will in the near future. With regards to carbohydrates post workout, we still HIGHLY recommend them. For insulin is one of the most anabolic hormones in our body. Having an insulin spike at the right time is worth noting. Insulin and cortisol are opposites of each other. As we workout out we create stress on our body, leading to the release of cortisol. With the consumption of a high carb meal post workout our insulin spike reduces our stress hormone(cortisol) allowing for the cell to volumization to occur through the up-regulation of glucose into the muscle. I hope this helps explain why carbs and insulin are important post workout. All the best, and thank you for being a part of our YT channel.
@MilliNox699 жыл бұрын
Labrada Nutrition Thank you for your answer, Lee! I would love to here more about that topic, as soon as you found the time to get in touch with it. I'm already consuming a banana and a moderate amount of maltodextrin along with my whey protein (and a shot of casein as well) immediately after training for a while. But after a german personal trainer named Holger Gugg came up with the insulin index of different protein-sources I got a lil' confused ;) After all I want to thank you for your aweseome work! I really appreciate your beneficial advice you're offering all of us non-professional bodybuilding-enthusiasts for free. Keep it up! Best wishes, Fabian

@Labrada8 жыл бұрын
HI Aziz, this is not Lee, just an employee of Labrada Nutrition, the timing of your meals is not as important as your total calorie intake and macro nutrient needs for the day. What we are saying is, you can consume a meal post workout as long as it's inside your total calorie goals for the day. Lets say you are trying to aim for 15 calories per ideal body pound per day, and you wanted to be 200 pounds this means you should consume 3000 calories per day. So if you ate 2,500 before your workout having a meal that is 500 calories post workout is perfect. However if you have already ate your 3000 calories and still have a meal after your workout, this will put you in a calorie surplus which will result in overall mass gain if performed consistently over time. Hope this helps answer your questions, wish you all the best.

Sir , As you have mentioned to take pre workout carbs An hour before the training . But the carbs like Oats are quick digesting carbs. so there won't be any use of taking oats an hour before?

Having carbs like oats or even faster digesting carbs like our ReCharge product are both beneficial to consume an hour or so prior to working out. Each person is unique you may find you feel better consuming carbs 2 hours before your workout, some people find that 45 minutes or even 30 minutes before a workout can be beneficial. Carbs are the bodies source of fuel, before working out we always want to optimize our "fuel" intake. Hope this helps answer your question, thanks for stopping by the Labrada Nutrition YT channel.

Hi,I have a question, do u have a plan or method to loose body fat in the belly section?What can I do to loose fat in that section?
@Labrada9 жыл бұрын
Damian Duenas good question. Labrada does have programs for overall body composition. One is called the Lean Body Trainer, here's the link - www.bodybuilding.com/fun/lee-labrada-12-week-lean-body-trainer.html To specifically target a certain area of the body is a mistake. Our bodies hold fat stores everywhere, with males this is predominantly our mid section. To gain the results we recommend burning more calories each day then you consume, while understanding proper good nutrition. We would highly recommend checking out the link above, there is a tremendous amount of great info there for you. Hope this answers your question, all the best.
