The slots in the carburetor port cause the air and fuel to atomize better to create a more combustible fuel mixture. The host provides some dyno numbers

I ran an aluminum spacer on my olds. Carb got so hot it pressurized the bowl and shot gas out of the boosters like they were fuel injectors!

Wouldn’t your manifold be aluminium as well?
@MoparMan-ff8fb Жыл бұрын
only the heat resistant plastic spacer and the wooden spacer would help

When would one want to use a 2" spacer? Application is 440, Performer intake and ED 650 carb, currently no spacer, thanks.

whats the point of aluminum spacers??? aluminum is indeed a very good heat conductor....

There really is no point in them, i think the guy in the video even knows it because he points to the wood space and plastic spacer, ignores the aluminum lol.

The wood spacer is the way to go, unless your running just Q mile taller the spacer the better!

They do make a difference I had a alumimun 1" on my Ford 390 2bbl it had alot more top end but it did get hot and after it got hot it leaked. I just switched to a 1/2" polynetic or wood looking one my float bowl was cold and the motor seemed like it was getting more vacum since it was closer to the engine the motor not the carb , the carb was doing the same .

Swirl Torque ? Sounds cheezy to me. But I tried it on a Boss 302 engine anyway. Works good.

What were the improvements?

@@peterbilt6662 off idle quick response. Also some improvement in gas mileage. I take it for granted. I forget to recommend it to customers that buy engines from me.

Back in the day. they didn't have all the goodies we have now!! I have heard of ppl just putting a stack of gaskets under the carb. About 1" thick!!! I'm assuming along with a smaller spacer. It would be easy to break the carb that way!!
@20alphabet2 жыл бұрын
Quit lying. Spacers have been around since the twenties.

Some people would put a screen between their carb and the manifold - to improve fuel atomization I guess.

Does anyone know what spacer I need for my 1406 Edelbrock carburetor? I dont have 2" of clearance so only a 1" will work but do I need 4 hole spacer or 2 large hole? Thanks for any info.

Single or dual plane intake ?

Hi i just had my holley carb fine tuned , was wondering if i add a 1 inch spacer will i need to have it tuned again after i add the spacer❓✌️
@robertclymer69483 жыл бұрын
Hi J! I'd simply put a vacuum gauge and tune it to optimize. Tune both air fuel screws in equal increments watching the vacuum read out., Shoot for the highest number. Best yet, go with a wideband Air fuel ratio gauge, but a little costly with the bung sensors etc.
@sc2dave12 жыл бұрын
Yes, because now you changed the plenum volume, which is gonna affect the torque and rpm band, etc. Why add a spacer now????
