why would BYD Dolphin pip MG4 for the Car of the year? it is about 3-4K cheaper, more practical and to me atleast, better to look at. and don't forget the 7 year warranty.

MG4 is just over a year old now, so wasn't in contention for overall Car of the Year. Agree though, it's a very compelling package! It won our sister site DrivingElectric's Car of the Year in December.

The Mazda MX-5 is a great car, but its use-case is restricted being a two-seater. Probably a better sports car than convertible! The MINI's a riot to drive, too.

Homework? We've spent time in cars both in Spain and in the UK. Not once did we consider quality to be anything but above par. The touchscreen, for example, is super quick and solid as a rock - and for sub-£30k. A worthy winner, in our eyes.

"However, according to the information on the relevant complaint platforms in China, the Dolphin model has many problems such as delayed delivery, abnormal noises from the braking system, a lack of power and charging failures." There is officially 2 investigations into the build quality of these cars. Grade C- for homework.

It sold approximately 300k units, nearly three times more than the second best-selling brand. For comparison, the Honda Fit sold 56k and the VW Polo sold 36k units. The majority of complaints seem to revolve around delayed deliveries. For a car that sold 300k units, most other reviews I've seen actually regard it favorably. I'm unsure why it only received a Grade C-, and I'm curious about the criteria for this rating. Which cars achieved a Grade A?

Why do you still keep having separate “best electric….” categories??? Why take ‘fuel’ into account? You don’t have separate diesel and petrol categories.

Right now, not everyone wants an electric car - this is the reason we choose to separate them out. That said, a few years ago we ditched our SUV categories entirely, as the bodyshape morphed from niche to mainstream. We're sure it won't be long before EVs are considered in the same sentence...!

Wow. This video makes me question very strongly wether you are as independent as you claim - or not. Let's say politely my taste is very different as I would have chosen different cars in every single category. Your choice for "car of the year" - BYD - has failed some comparisons with established brands. But the company needs some attention... Sad, but I have to unfollow your channel.

Best large family car the skoda kodiaq, come on, you are pandering to the stupid masses. A skoda octavia will have more space and practicality than the kodiaq has, in fact the only thing that the kodiaq has in its favour is a raised driving position. SUVs weigh more, are less economical, handle worse and cost more, but because everyone thinks they need one, you tell everyone how wonderful they are because if you told the truth, you wouldn't make as much money 🤮

Sorry, very disappointing that you choose to award a Chinese car as your car of the year - designed as t is to undermine the European car industry. It is artificially cheap. Like other Chinese exports - it is being dumped on the UK and European markets with Chinese govt subsidies - with a single goal in mind. To break our car industry. To buyers who care - avoid!
