you just taught me something! Ammo companies need to change that diameter asap

Milsurp munitions makes it. And if you reload PPU sells .268 bullets too
@SurplusBoysChannel3 ай бұрын
Yeah I’m surprised that PPU doesn’t completely switch over. They do make the right sized bullets but maybe all their brass drawing dies are set to .264 and they don’t want to spend the time and money to switch just for that one cartridge. -N

@@SurplusBoysChannel that makes sense. I'm just happy they still make what they do, they're keeping my milsurps shooting

When a bore is loose for a substantial length on the breach end it is usually a result of failure to having been cleaned after shooting corrosive primed ammo which would likely be anytime it was fired before it came to the US…. One that has fired too many rounds shows its west at the muzzle.

Yeah it wasn’t taken care of in its younger years, figure this 1915 Carcano saw some WWI action then probably got sent over to fight the Ethiopians and then sat in a less than optimal warehouse for 70+ years. -N

@ Finding an M91 Fucile with a clean bore and muzzle within spec is difficult. Just for the record, Italy took them out of service when the muzzle measured .262” or greater.

If 6.5 is what you want to rock then just stick to the Swedish mauser. It's a rarity you'll find one with a shitty bore
@SurplusBoysChannelАй бұрын
That’s always a given. Main 6.5 surplus guns being the Swede Mauser, Dutch Mannlicher, Mannlicher-Schönauer, Arisaka, and Carcano. The Carcano is the bottom of the list with being easy to get running good, especially WWI long rifles from being shot out. BUT with anyone who collects surplus the Carcano is a must. -N

@SurplusBoysChannel even though the model 91 Carcano's were imported by the UVF so still quite historical in an Irish context, they're still well down my particular wish list. I'm on a bit of a French buzz at the moment.
@SurplusBoysChannelАй бұрын
Ah how’s the stock of lebels, berthiers, and mas36s over there? Here in the states any decent French gun is hard to find, lebels being the hardest, you can find Gras easier here. -N
@IrishpewtuberАй бұрын
@SurplusBoysChannel lebel and Berthier are common enough and pretty affordable, I picked my Berthier up for €200 . MAS36 and MAS49 or later still chambered in 7.5 French are harder to find because of French law restricting anything chambered in a military cartridge so most were converted to .284 winchester and they can be had fairly cheaply but who the hell wants them.
@SurplusBoysChannelАй бұрын
Dang, good lebels and berthiers start at around $1,000 here, same thing with MAS 36s. MAS49s are a little more common but still expensive. -N
