In the past, I'd always thought that you get what you deserve with these all-in-one polishes. The problem with that philosophy is 1) Polishing technology has changed a lot over just the past 10 years alone, and 2) My original philosophy is admittedly a bit harsh anyway. Depending on the needs and expectations of the client (or oneself!), this can be the ideal solution. You've just convinced me to take another look at these. Besides, you're using high-end AIOs, not big-box store knockoffs, and that makes a huge difference. Thanks again, Sandro!

The more videos I watch of you doing these product comparisons, it becomes more and more apparent that you can always trust good top of the line companies like Rupes, CarPro, ect. There are some one off's from B tier brands that can maybe match or barely beat some of the top of the line stuff, but very rare. Thanks for all your hard work on these product testing series, you are saving thousands of other people time and money and the headache of buying and testing all these products to find the best one. A non biased opinion is hard to find these days, thank you sir.

I did a side by side comparison with the 3D one and the Rupes UNO protect on my 2019 Camaro ZLE, I got 2 of the Rupes yellow medium wool pads (3 1/2 inch) for the DA polisher yesterday, I tried a spot on the trunk lid where I had scratch that bugged the heck out of me, so I tried the UNO first and yes it was slick but the scratch was still there, so I tried the 3D and that did the trick, I even did a couple of areas on the nose of the car with a white finish pad, needless to say, I will be sticking with the 3D, so I will be correcting with the 3D then use the UNO on top of that just for the protect part.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
Great to hear 3D One worked well! Rupes Uno Protect is an AIO polish that would be more comparable with 3D Speed - also an AIO 3D One is a medium or one step compound comparable to Rupes Fine compound both of which will have more cut than an AIO, so that makes sense in having more success with obvious scratches.

The car ended up alot better since the paint was so bad, any improvment would make it look alot better, but i dont think i will be using aio-s again.

Tried some of these myself, just don’t see a need for them in my business, cars I tested them on I found the wax didn’t last very long, another you need to consider is that the wax also works as a filler. I found a single stage correction and separate wax works a lot better.

They work great for my situation. But, I agree about the longevity. I'll give up some cut for extended durability. I've found that Duragloss 101 (Polish & Cleaner), or Duragloss 501 (RV Polish & Cleaner) usually does the job unless the paint is absolutely thrashed. I prefer 101, and that's one hell of an ancient product, but it works so well.

I am curious on the sickness and durability test did you let the product sit on the panels for a at least 30 minutes before wipe off? Being that that they are polymers they need time to bond. I usually polish the whole vehicle and let it sit for 30 minutes before removal and the protection last about twice as long as if I wipe it off immediately after polishing.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
Everything we use is made up of polymers, it’s about what specific polymers they contain which can vary a lot. Generally speaking, machine applications tend to instantly flash and bond the active resins to the paint, whereas hand applications tend to require longer sitting periods to allow the solvents to escape - that’s been my experience.

Looks like I missed this somehow when it first came out, I have notifications on too! Good video and I use some polishes like 3D1 for a one step but as a rule have stayed away from total all in one’s preferably to add my protection of choice. I’m becoming a fan extreme solutions acrylic polishes for finishing, ( just another option in the shop) might be a good video. I then add protection over it. Getting good results especially on jobs where I maintain the cars and can use protection that can be layered in a drying phase. It can extend time period between corrections on some vehicles I maintain without coatings.

Another awesome comparison Sandro! If I were to use Uno Protect, after 4 hour cure, could I top with a ceramic or Graphene spray sealant? Thank you!
@CarCraftAutoDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Yes, unless you’re in quite a cold environment 4hrs should do it, otherwise allowing it to cure over night should certainly be long enough to add a spray sealant on top. Putting the car in direct sunlight for an hour or so and then allowing it to cool in shade will also cure it nicely.

In the normal cutting and polish range of 3d and 3m which would you say is better?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing2 жыл бұрын
I think that 3M(that owns 3D) tends to gear their 3M compounds better towards body shops and their specific paint systems and indoor environments as well as car manufacturers, whereas the 3D line is meant for broader paint types and situations that better suit detailers working in diverse situations, environments and on very diverse paints.

Hi Sandro, really impressive comparison! Love the Rupes. You mentioned about filling, does that mean if you freshen up a car using it, after some washes and time to wear off you’ll then start to see some defects that were ‘hidden’ by the product?

Generally it’s minor haze that AIO polishes will fill, so it’s not like your going to see and significant swirls or scratches reappear, it’s more like a dullness that in many cases just using a nice wax or sealant should sort out.

AIO’s typically contain smaller and minimal abrasives so they are generally very safe even for beginners especially if used with a gentle foam polishing or finish pads. You may however find if you use them with a completely non-abrasive wax application machine pad and with an overly gentle technique, those pads and that technique may not be aggressive enough to break those polishes down and it could result it a slightly hazy finish.
