Except they didn't slide the cards into the center. I saw the original video, and the shuffler actually slid them on top of each other. Here, he just picked them up.

The Game Show Network original Catch 21 also used oversized playing cards like these. I can imagine they shuffle them the same way. The shuffling has to be thorough when you're shuffling a regular deck of playing cards. Also interesting to see the Money Cards have their own golden deck. The classic versions just used the red deck all over again. Alexis Gaube also continues to dazzle us as a TPIR model. Not sure what Jerry's been doing, though; ABC cancelled this in 2021.

Card sharks needs to return to tv soon with a new host. It’s one of the greatest game shows ever in tv history. 3 other people have hosted the show before it was recently revived with Joel Mchale. #1 Jim Perry #2 Bob Eubanks #3 Bill Rafferty I always loved playing along with the show guessing higher or lower with the cards. I hope the show comes back soon. Bryce Garrett.

This to avoid people making the accusation that the cards and the game were rigged and bring down an accusation of FIXING/CHEATING like they had in the 1950s Scandals.
@gameshowguy2000
@gameshowguy2000 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Standards and Practices thing will keep conspiracy theorists away. Just like those who think James Holzhauer was fed the Jeopardy! clues (he wasn't), or Michael Larson cheated by studying the patterns on the original PYL, or that Norma Brown's Money Cards deck was rigged (no, it eventually came down to HOW she cut the deck... yes, the players also cut the decks themselves, and HOW the cards come out all depends on that FINAL cut).
@martyklestadt6766
@martyklestadt6766 5 жыл бұрын
@@gameshowguy2000 I believe it's well known that Larson DID study the patterns on PYL, but technically it wasn't cheating because there was nothing specifically prohibiting it. After that episode, they switched from patterns to an actual randomizing system which they didn't use before because they thought it would be too expensive.

@martyklestadt6766 5 жыл бұрын
@@gameshowguy2000 Kind of like how card counting in Blackjack (before they started using those machines that shuffle the cards after every hand) isn't technically cheating either, because the player is simply using all of the knowledge available to them. But if a casino caught someone card counting back in the day, they would be asked to leave and no longer welcome.

Now the people who work on the show they've already counted the deck, they had the ABC watchdogs have to check every day to make sure it's complete and contains 52 different cards. And then they work this specially design shuffling table that enables them to mix the deck at random. They do this for about a minute. And it's always under the scrutiny of the ABC compliance and practices people. Then they cut each of the decks when they're all done after shuffling for about a minute. Each of the decks weights 25 pounds they measure 2 feet by 1 foot. Then each of the decks are strapped, sealed and it is signed by the CMP person. It's dated and locked up until they go on the air. And when they're ready to play, the seal is broken and the cards are given to the dealers.

Could be wrong, but I think it was a new deck every match/money cards. I remember reading a story from a fan asking if he could buy a deck of those giant cards, they wrote him back saying they cost hundreds of dollars and sent him a pack of standard sized playing cards with the card sharks logo that they were never made commercially available. I think Bob Boden had one in his game show collection, so to answer your question, I think they were thrown out but if you had connections, you could probably get your hands on one.
