I do a variation on this. If the spectator picks an ace then just say something like, "I need some help from my ladies to figure out you card" then just find queens. "I need my boys to help me out with this" then you use kings or jacks. I vary what I use so I am casual and don't look thrown. Aces are obviously exchangeable for any 4 cards of the same
@jingopolitan Жыл бұрын
During the card selection you can improve the trick by saying something like "The only question I'll ask to help me find your card is 'Is your card an ace?'" to make it seem like part of the magic rather than the setup for the trick. If they say yes, you can switch the trick to work with any other card before the next step. After that, during the part where you fish out the aces/other chosen cards you can hand the audience the bottom half of the deck and ask them to help you take out the chosen cards out and add "your card might be there, don't worry about it"; That way they're busy with half of the deck and you don't need to be as subtle with looking up their card and they get the impression the location of the card could have been in their half of the deck. My slight of hand is lacking, and my solution to that is more misdirection.

Here’s an idea I had: when you pull the four aces out of the deck and have to put the specific suit on top, just set them in a 2x2 square and pick them up around in a circle so the one you want is last. That way you don’t pick them up in a weird order and look like you’re controlling one in particular, and it would look kinda cool

Only to people who know magic tricks, but yeah, he has an unnatural double lift.
@DerMichael4 жыл бұрын
I just watched 3 or 4 videos of him and they all start by controlling the selected card to the top. Now, if you have a lot of charisma and your audience are some random folks, that may work, but if you perform it for your friends, they will be like "Yo man, why can't I put the card where I want it to be and give it a nice shuffle? I don't trust this already and you barely started." Then again, I might just think that, because I see right through it, especially when he does some riffle shuffles and (fake) cuts, which are a dead giveaway. In reality, most people may not realize what is actually happening. Same for breaks and double lifts. I mean, we can spot those even when performed by Shin Lim and people like that, because we know what to look for.

@@DerMichael i usually learn some great concealed card controls but if i have a tough croud i will ALWAYS PALM THE CARD. you control their card to the top first and if they ask to do it themselfs( a tough crowd almost always will) I wasnt you to palm the top card DISCREETLY and give them the card below, now rush them into placing and shuffling their card so they cant look at the fake card. At this point ask them to give the deck back to you and discreetly place the card back on top.... PERFECT TRICK

Technically speaking if your spectator does choose an Ace you could adapt and choose another set of cards. For instance you could choose the four 2's and just do things like normal exept replace where you would say "ace" with "two" or whichever card set you choose. A good Magician knows how to adapt to changes.
@kevnerx Жыл бұрын
I was thinking as well, if they pick an ace you could offer the choice of Jacks, Queens or Kings to give the spectator more control over the outcome, though either would mean offering the choice after you have already peeked at their selection, so it's certainly for adaption. Also, if it turns out they picked an ace, shuffle again and say you need the aces to find the card. They might believe they have ruined the trick or at least may think they have one over on you if you're innocent enough, then maybe tweak the end to have their card face up in the deck after 'ruining' the trick by turning the lifted card which in this case would be completely arbitrary, just a decoy. Or a Joker if you slip one in?

U said that IF they had one of the aces, the trick would run into a problem. But in theory if you have 3 aces you know what their card is. Yes, you won’t be able to pull off the whole switched suit and card trick, you will just be like “your card was -“ whatever missing ace it was. So technically that’s just logic, and yes the audience may know your trick, but that’s just an idea to save your trick IF you go to any difficulty during this AWESOME trick!
@stefanssmellsvictory1058 ай бұрын

Nice trick. One adjustment I'd make at the end is to spread out the cards face UP. This gives you a build-up to the final reveal-- 1. a card is flipped opposite the rest... 2. Thinking the face down card is theirs (pretty cool)...BUT--turning it over reveals not their card, but the final ace... and 3. The ultimate reveal of their chosen card. I'd also consider doing a more convincing false count when showing the aces. BTW, when he says 'no setup', that just means there's no secret placement of cards. But there are definitely prerequisites for practice: 1. Double lift (could be any method) 2. Control a card to the top (could be any method) 3. Pinky break 4. Spreading the cards out evenly
@blueye952 жыл бұрын
one thing this does is show that the ace is inbetween the other 3 aces, perhaps spoiling that you got rid of it together with the final ace

Max Steel most people can’t make a double lift look good. It’s generally a sloppy move unless you put years of practice into it. The reason we catch these moves is because we realize that anytime a magician does something that seams unnatural it’s normally because he’s trying to hide something. I don’t perform magic too often but whenever I try to do one with a double lift I normally get caught. I solve this by avoiding tricks with double lifts as best I can

Very nice trick. Minor issue I noticed was that the order of the aces changes from your "introduction" round to your "checking for the suit" round as you double lift the 2nd and 3rd ace. Maybe there should be a different method than the introduction round to bring the chosen card on top and the right suited ace to the bottom.
@WesleyNegron5 жыл бұрын
That’s called a discrepancy. Many great card tricks rely on discrepancies that just fly by an audience in real life performing situations. This is one example. It’s not a big deal.
