Ever thought about recycling waste material and turn it into an amazing art form? In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a pendant lamp from recycling cardboard, by cutting with templates.
The lamp is about 20 cm wide and 12 - 13 cm tall. With hexagonal construction, this DIY lampshade is highly presentable, being an excellent example of 'best out of waste' crafts.
This pendant lamp is best presented when hanged at or just above the eye level, where the light effect from the lamp shade can be easily sighted.
Tip: For the best result, use cardboard with consistent thickness.
Please use a low energy or LED light to reduce the heat.

I saw the exact same lamp shade, even a circle shaped one here in South africa at a store costing R950 which is around $68 (USD)... my mom really liked it and I told her I'll go back to the shop and buy it for when I have money....now im making it instead...thanks for the video!

I guess we can use spray paint or or liquid paint to colour those strips before sticking or combining.

HI sheema, when you cut the cardboard, try and take it slow. Make the first shallow cut as a guide and then go deeper afterwards. That will give you a better result.

Hi whats the size of each template? And will it not burn the whole lamp if for example the light will go on for about 8 hrs because it's only made out of hard bound paper? Thanks

The lamp is about 20 cm wide and 12 - 13 cm tall. It will not burn if you use the low energy or LED light bulb.
