Great video! I really appreciate you taking the time to make this. I’m thinking about doing the same thing in my backyard to start a really big garden. I love the idea of going to Costco and getting cardboard. I’m going to check that out this week.

Wow! Whoda thunk that shrooms would be soil purifiers. Thanks for all the great tips. We're finally getting a good soaking here in the southern Sierra -- at long last.

nice tips in there, thank you! Im trying to convert a bush property into more of a dynamic food forest / perennial system. I plan on cutting most of the trees down to open up for sun, and use cardboard to cover over the 4 foot high thistle and other bush. Hope it works!

Hi, great insight as always. Do you do just one layer of a cardboard or a few? I am assuming a cardboard plus wood chips will help with preserving water use?

I'm very interested in this gardening technique as I am trying not to have to purchase a tiller. I have access to plenty of cardboard boxes that I plan to break down. My question is can the cardboard be placed directly over grass and then lay down several inches of the wood chips or even leave mulch? Thank you for another great video.
@plantabundance8 жыл бұрын
Exactly! You can sheet mulch directly over the grass and weeds. If you can get it done before winter you will have the perfect conditions for planting come next spring. Just pull back the woodchips or other mulch and poke a hole through the cardboard to plant. All the best!

Dear Sir, I am confused I recently purchase some Ez Straw from Ace Hardware for my garden, but a lot of farmers are telling me to beware of this straw because it killed a lot of their vegetables. What mulch do you suggest that I use in my 25 x 9 Garden.

Just curious...How often would you re-sheet and mulch the area?? When the cardboard is gone, or is this a one time sheeting with subsequent additional mulching?? Thanks!
@PossumPityParty7 жыл бұрын
Mark Narducci In my experience and knowledge, yes. Cardboard is to stifle the grass, weeds etc... mulching regularly keeps it working and seeds than land from germinating.

I'm in SF and have ceanothus as a ground cover, but clover seems to still popup. Can I lay cardboard without mulch, because the branches would hold down the cardboard. Thanks

Design a biodegrable staple and adhesive
@plantabundance4 жыл бұрын
Most cardboard adhesive is made of cornstarch and is *biodegradable. Remove any staples using a pair of needle nose pliers before using in the garden for easy disposal. Cheers!
