This was fascinating I always assumed that you made a separate model for the interiors and then flooded it separately it’s really neat that you were able to work them into the ship

I always thought there were two sets due to the difference in water levels in them as they sank. But to see that each ship has an actual interior and the difference is just a quirk of filming makes this even more special. Thank you for this amazing series.

When I was younger, I went through a phase where I would watch many videos about the sinking of the Titanic. However, what is more unique, is that I would watch videos about Titanic models sinking. I eventually found this channel when I searched up “cardboard Titanic” one day (plus I wanted to try to make a cardboard model of the Titanic) and it was a great discovery in my opinion. Your first cardboard ship video, “The Incredible Footage of the Sinking of the Cardboardia” is one of my favorite Titanic-related videos as well as one of my favorite KZbin videos of all and I loved how you included both footage of the ship sinking and the interior of the ship flooding (such as the grand staircase, dining room, etc.) I also find it impossible yet impressive that when you make these videos, the cardboard ships stay intact despite interacting with actual water. Based on this video, it does make sense that you film the ship sinking from only one side but that was only the beginning. I did not know that you used the nails that you put on your ships as tools to steer cameras that recorded the interior footage of flooding. (I also didn’t know you made the interior within the actual ship. I thought you had two separate models; one of the ship and another of the rooms.) I also can’t imagine how long it takes to build one of these ships and incorporate this system, only for it to be submerged underwater. To wrap it all up, this was a very interesting and surprising video. I too believe that many others wonder how you make these ships, let alone such amazing videos. I know this is a very long comment but I just wanted to word it as best as I could. I’m very impressed and I’m glad you made a video that explained how you make these!

Back in 2011 when 11 year old me stumbled across your videos I grabbed every cardboard shoebox I could find in my moms closet and built over a year 4 different shoe box boats each made by an individual shoe box, I remember thinking back then about how you made your cardboard ship and wanted so badly to emulate that, I would sink them in my lake and watched with excitement to watch them sink, wow if I had watched this how to video as a kid I probably would’ve been inspired to make more than the 4 I made either way these videos were awesome to me as a kid and now as an adult

As a cardbordia engineer, I would look at such a marvel of human design and construction and think to myself 'surely this masterpiece could never ever agonizingly sink to a deep, watery grave, night or day in the freezing waters of the cardbordia seas with possible pyrotechnics and multiple camera angles documenting the affair'

Finally: what we've all been waiting for!! I knew that the interiors had to be part of the ships and not merely separate structures that are filmed on their own. The ships are just as detailed as I hoped, and I cannot be more happy about that. A single hole or two and weight at the bottom makes sense for an easy sinking, although it would've been cool if it varied based on what damage the ships take in the various stories. Having a side with windows that actually let light in to illuminate different areas is great too, though surely it'd be possible to add the same amount of detail to them as the other side of the ships, right? That's really clever with the nails rotating the cameras shooting inside: always wondered what they were for as I never saw any interior areas where they could possibly help with the ships' structure. And you are right: putting the camera at a low angle really makes them look a WHOLE lot bigger than they actually are. I could instantly imagine that thing at some dock towering over the people embarking _-(for some reason given CCL's less than stellar history...).-_ All in all, this is incredible work that you do. Well done, and I can't wait to see what becomes of this newest ship. It'd be nice to get an episode where it actually completes a voyage, *_for once,_* but that's probably never gonna happen sadly...
@TD_TD-TD_TD Жыл бұрын
I have been watching your channel for years. And I always assumed you had separate sets for the interior, but I think it is so cool that you managed to fit the sets into the ship and have cut outs for cameras. I though it was really cool how you use nails to rotate the camera to get different angles inside.

Brilliant! It is exactly as I thought you did it... compartmentalised bulkheads with openings for a controlled water flow. I had noticed that in all of your founderings there was an added list to either port or starboard, most likely caused by the weight of the cameras. I must admit, like other commenters have, that I thought you did separate sets for the interior shots. The use of the nails for filming different angles and the dowels for structural integrity may be simple mechanical details, but they enhanced the entire production. With all the mysteries revealed, the fascination will not wane... for there are still some mysteries to be revealed. Ice?

In a rain shower head they use a couple of plates with holes in them to remove the pressure but keep the volume. Very simple. You could use something like that to take the kick back the smoke bomb so it looks more like smoke and less like a rocket going down the smoke stack. Since you only need it to work once, Cardboard should would just fine. You'd have to test but I'd bet, pin holes in the first and nail holes in the second should work just fine.
