Sorry I explained that terribly. Every attack in the game has a "critical" of 1. If you reveal a critical trigger while attacking with a vanguard, the "critical" goes up to 2. This is commonly referred to as a "double critical." If you attack with a grade 3 vanguard and reveal 2 critical triggers in a row the "critical" becomes 3, also referred to as "triple critical." This is incredibly rare as the only way it can happen is if you successfully attack with a grade 3 AND reveal 2 crit triggers.

Normal attack is single critical. If a Twin Drive reveals 2 critical triggers the attack has a total critical of 3, hence triple critical.

Is it just me or does Vanguard seem heaps more exciting when you are building and playing than any other game? A few friends and I have been playing for less than a week and already there have been several miracle triggers and my friend even hit a triple critical!

I've heard that the anime got it's release before the trading card game, but the trading card game was the original idea for Vanguard to begin with. And they released the anime at first, so people could see what this was all about, and get an interest for the game. This was obviously a typical business plan to earn some money.
