I lived on the Lakeside estate growing up and was also the right age to have made full use of the slide at 8:09. With the right clothes, and maybe the help of a greasy crisp bag or three, you could get the speed up to launch off the end of the flat bit. As a sensible (?!) grown up I can understand why it had to go in the end. But the kid in me was so disappointed for my own son not to to be able to enjoy the same when we came visiting. He's an adult now so it's far too late for him even if the powers that be repent and concede that just sometimes "health and safety" can go too far. I mean, isn't being able to experience a slide like that worth the odd casualty? 🙂 I was too young for that gig though. It's surely for real? All that (Hendrix, the Move, Nice, and "The Pink Floyd") with two sets less that 2.5 hours apart?? I did get to see Pink Floyd at Sofia Gardens in the end though - it must have been just after Wish You Were Here came out because the set basically consisted of Dark Side and that.

@begriddled Most of the parks were still the same into the late 90s. Heath and Victoria park were wonderfully treacherous, as well as Roath park and the Rec. Good times.

The boat was still making it's rounds in the 90s. Between the yearly algae and COVID, there hasn't been much boating lately.
