You're not alone. My faith is all I have left too. I'm 60 years old. My family is all gone now. I'm a bachelor with no kids. I have health issues and I have no friends. However, as good a story as Cardinal Dolan tells, it IS hard to be here on earth surrounded by people not only all seeming to have someone, but them automatically assuming that I have someone. It makes one feel like one is missing out on the very life that God gave us. I keep reminding myself of what the Holy Virgin told Saint Bernadette when she was alive. Which was that she could not promise her happiness in THIS life; only in the next.

He's a good showman. I'm from the New York metro area and he's the 5th cardinal in my lifetime. I've never seen anyone quite like him. He's almost an anomaly for a cardinal. He most likely will have to retire in less than 2 months anyway when he reaches 75. Unless Pope Francis extends his tenure which I don't think will be likely as he was appointed by the conservative Benedict XVI and Francis is a liberal.

Dear Dwade689, I am very sorry for the abuse that has happened in the Catholic Church. The Church has tried very hard to get a handle on the problem ever since 2002 when the bishops met to discuss it in 2002. I do many things to volunteer for the church. None of them involved children. I recently did a volunteer activity that only vaguely has anything to do with children. But, in order to do that activity, I had to take training about the sexual abuse of children and vulnerable people, including read a sixty-three PDF file. Doing this was not a problem. But, I wanted to let you know that the church is doing everything that it can to be sure that it never happen again.

Yes, there are many who don't. I'm in the New York metro area and I've lived through 5 cardinals now. I must say that Dolan is somewhat of an anomaly. I've never seen a cardinal act or behave quite the way he does. I'll hand it to him though; he's a good showman and talks a good talk. The sad part is that despite his uplifting talk, many still suffer at Christmas. From loneliness, homelessness, etc. He never seems to talk about how to help that. Going to Mass can only do so much for a person when they are all alone. Speaking of his cassock, the one thing I always notice is how he never wears his sash with his house cassock. I wonder why?

😂😂😂 Rome paganized Christianity very thoroughly. One way was to connect the birth of Jesus with the pagan festival of Saturnalia. Jesus was not actually born during that pagan festival. Saturnalia was celebrated starting on December 17, when the Temple of Saturn in the Roman Forum in Rome was traditionally dedicated (perhaps around 500 BC). Saturnalia was an extremely popular festival from a very early stage, which partly explains why the number of days was expanded: the number of official holidays varied at different times between three, five and seven. The festival began with a public meal in front of the Temple of Saturn, after which the actual carnival began. The following days were a time when all residents, including slaves, were allowed to have fun and be free from work: physical work was almost forbidden, schools were closed and even courts were not held during the Saturnalia festival. War was also not allowed to be declared during those days. Gambling and food and drink, more specifically, lavish eating and outright drunkenness, were important parts of the festivities; According to some ancient writers, people who walked around in public with their heads held in high esteem were exceptional cases, and were viewed with some suspicion.
