Well you know he did not vote for our present pope in the last conclave. He sounds like a wonderful candidate for pope. I really like him!

The Dutch cardinal pope?? I am Dutch myself and he is so umpopular here. Very rightwing, very stiff person. Never seeks out the media. Catholic life is in total meltdown.

But isn't he in popular because the diocese are so liberal and they refuse to listen to him? If they would listen I doubt the state of the church would be what it is. He wants the Sunday services without Priests to end for example. The churches came together and said he better leave them be or they will rebel and leave him powerless. Seems totally over the top to me. I see many articles where he speaks out about things that honestly the pope should speak out against. He doesn't seem like the silent type. I live in the Netherlands too. I don't see him as extremely right wing at all.

If by "right wing" and "stiff" you mean preaches the authentic truth of the Faith, and isn't afraid to condemn heresy and sin, then that's what the Church and world badly need right now.
