@@thecatholicman For sure, I just meant to bring to light a silent majority of the Vetus Ordo: FSSP, IBP, ICKSP, and many others including the local parish TLMs. SSPX always seems to take the oxygen out of the room so to speak when it comes to these things - often to the detriment of folks just going about their business.

Without SSPX there would be no IBP and FSSP and the Insitute would not have joined together without Ecclesia Dei. Let's be real: The SSPX has many valid points and has to be adressed and cannot be treated like pariah. FSSP people in part do not even share the traditionalist positions on Ecumenism, the Universality of the Church etc. We need to be integral catholics and not just like the mass better for asthetical reasons...

The newer generation of priests are more capable of doing this

I've never heard anything from Bishop Williamson (and he is a real, valid bishop) that approaches sedevacantism. Williamson has publicly stated that he would not establish any kind of "new" version of the SSPX because he doesn't have jurisdiction and that resides in Rome. He stated publicly that "If Francis calls me up and tells me establish a new SSPX that will work to undo everything he's trying to do, then I'll be on the next plane to Rome. But I don't expect him to ask that of me."

@@thomasmooney5653 the Vetus Ordo’s main attraction, and what I think brings so many young people and families to it is a sense of the numinous, the transcendent, the reverence for Our Lord in the sacrament, the beauty of liturgy which many (not all) masses seem to have lost (I’ll let you decide if this is by design or accident). Consider the young people on the Chartres and Covadongo pilgrimages and their VO being banned - in countries where leftist govts are hostile to faith and even try to ban public rosaries - there’s clearly a movement of the Holy Spirit, if you like, rewarding and enriching the faith of these young people.

If, in 1992 John Paul II had a bad day, was distracted and something happened in terms of sacramental form (maybe his hands never touched Vigano's head) that made Vigano question the event in retrospect, it's common practice to have a reconsecration. It could also be a problem with Vigano's ordination to the priesthood. Maybe there was an issue with that. Fr. Paul Trinchard stated that there were teams of bishops ordaining priests behind the scenes at the Vatican, conditionally ordaining priests when John Paul II was in ill health. It's no different than if you go to confession and the priest isn't a native speaker of English and he absolves you but uses an incomplete form. I've heard priests plenty of times, say in a thick Eastern European accent...true ministry of Church absolve sin, father, son, holy spirit....the minimal form is "I absolve you..." When it's absent, there's no absolution. When that happens you have to either correct the priest and get him to absolve you correctly or go to somewhere else and re-confess.

@@gerry30 John Paul II hands definitely touched his head. And in 1992 he was very active. I served Mass with him in 1995 and he had his full faculties. What Vigano is doing is beyond cruel.

@@thecatholicman Cruel to who? Are you just being a fan of JPII? I cited a possible example. There could be multiple causes for doubt. Are you claiming he never made a mistake in form his entire career? And JPII was no ideal of orthodox behavior nor was his thinking and philosophy particularly clear. There's a whole collection of his disturbing behaviors in the book by Catholic League lawyer Andrew J. McCauley's "Crossing the Threshold of Confusion."
