they are VERY pain in the butt expensive BUT high quality & well made , i have those tall PLUS Big capacity Squirrel buster bought few years ago 6 of them for $100 a pop with shield Guard for rain that's another $25 a pop anyway those feeders now these days goes for $120 each...f*n crazy talk for just a bird feeder, but is worth it in long run & really works!

I recently bought the standard size squirrel buster and my local birds seem to be afraid of it; few have gone near it. They used to love my plastic tube feeders but the squirrels destroyed them. I hope the birds come back soon.

Thank You for your great review. You convinced me. I have concluded that t is better to pay a little more for a high quality bird feeder that will actually work. I just bought my house and have been researching bird feeders. I see lots of squirrels in the back yard so I really need one of these squirrel buster bird feeders. The Standard seems to fit the bill for me. Thank You.

Just a note…I thought my cardinals did not feed on my squirrel buster feeder…wrong! They love it…I was recently told Cardinals are usually first to arrive at the feeders, and last to arrive at the feeders..I am not an early riser, so missed their Arrivals. And I’m usually cooking when they come at night?

I put the Squirrel buster plus in place of a hopper feeder. Cardinals came to my old feeder daily. My cardinals won't land on squirrel buster plus. I use the same food as I did on my other feeder. The cardinals land in the bush close to the feeder and either fly away, or feed off of the ground. I'm bummed, because I wanted this feeder for a long time.

Here in western NC foothills and our 20 acres, cardinals are in profusion. The cardinals love the Plus-now I’m trying to decide on 2 more-because we have a wide variety of feeder birds from small chickadees, tufted titmice, finches, creepers, etc to the Cardinals. The Jays have never tried the feeder. Thinking I probably should get another Plus which all the birds like and one other but can’t decide-maybe the legacy?? We have LOTS of squirrels LOL-they fly across the pasture onto the fence and then jump from tree to tree (and in past from feeder to feeder). Lots for them to eat and stash on ground right now with oaks and pecans-but they do prefer black oiled sunflower seeds if available.

Morning, the mini’s do have a small seed capacity, I find straight black oil sunflower seeds work the best , less ingredients to plug up the seed tube. Give that a try, hope it works for you, thanks, . Bob 😊

I don't like using black seed as it leaves a right mess with all the husk If I had known this I would never have bought one

@@sherbitdab4767 we have a blend made for us called Garden Friendly , everything is hulled, there is no mess of hulls, they’re the most durable and take a long time to breakdown, seed how ever disintegrates very quickly on the ground leaving no trace. What type of birds use the "mid-ring" (and leave the cardinal ring off) ? (Pole Adaptor "extra")(1-800-856-5685) left a message I prefer the smaller birds. Chickadees, Juncos,etc... Lately the cranberry seed bell is a blast. I was taking a smaller bird feeder out to the feed area (100' from house) Stopping out in the yard, I held up a feeder and had several little chickadee puppies feeding at a time. Very cool... So small, so trusting ... The chicks are quite fearless. I noticed when "pishing" that you need to let them respond... to your call ... even an eagle will match a call. I have 8-acres on a river(Washington) (4 feeders total)(8X42 Vortex)

thanks - have noticed that cardinals don't really like the perches on the legacy. is the cardinal ring on the Plus a preferred solution? i have to fill up the legacy once every 36-48 hours which is a bit aggravating as well. the nicer the feed, the faster it goes. a conundrum!

Off of the squirrel buster, yes , it works well, it is still a bird feeder but morning dove are ground feeders therefor need a platform to sit on to feed, so ya it work very well
