St. Louis Cardinals were playing in Seattle on Sunday against the Mariners, and from the beginning of the game Contreras didn't like the strike zone and he was demonstrative about it. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol was also very vocal. In the 5th inning Willson would get tossed after slamming, breaking his bat, and then yelling at the home plate umpire from the dugout.

MLB has tried to fix everything about the game EXCEPT for the horrendous home plate umpiring. Apparently calling balls and strikes is the most difficult job in the history of mankind. These guys make 20 or more mistakes per game. Bring on the electronic strike zone. End of problem.

How stupid can St. Louis be. They knew Molina was going to retire. Being in the same division they knew how Contreras was literally the biggest whiner in the league. He fully expects his manager to make a complete butt out of himself to every umpire who dares to call a close strike against him. Enjoy it St. Louis!

First off, everything that happened, stemmed off that one pitch in Contreras' first plate appearance, that actually was a strike. Second - The umpire has been calling the low strike. Umpires (just like the players themselves) can't be perfect 100% of the time. I mean take Contreras for example. He's kind of a hypocrite for getting pissed at the umpire for missing the low strike call....when Contreras was wrong about the strike call in his first PA. Third - Umpire called the exact same pitch a strike both times. I understand a Ball is a Ball, and a Strike is a Strike....but until we get robot umpires, we use human umpires. All players can ask for, is for an umpire to be consistent. Which this umpire was in this case. Fourth - I could understand Contreras getting pissed after his strikeout, IF he had chased a ball in the dirt. I play ball, and I hate when a Ball is called a Strike (for example, low, like in this video)... then the pitcher throws an even lower pitch that is clearly a Ball, but I swing at it because the umpire has been calling low strikes....... in THAT case, it is quite irritating and I can understand a player getting extra upset.
