Good interviews. My favorite baseball book is October 1964 from 1994 by David Halberstam. He covered the Cards and Yankees equally. I turned 11 during this world series and the book brings the memories all back. The priot year in 1963 with basically the same team except for having Stan Musial instead of Lou Brock obtained in June for ace Ernie Broglio the Cards won 19 out of 20 in September but came up a little short against the Dodgers. Both seasons had great September runs and identical 93-69 records. Bob Gibson became the ace in 1964 but was still pretty good in 1963.

Ken Boyer hit his grand slam off of Al Downing, the same pitcher who gave up Hank Aaron's home run number 715.

Bill, get rid of John. He is way past his prime. Aren't you tired of just making the playoffs and not actually winning it all?

I agree that it’s time for a change of direction but it’s also extremely difficult to win a WS, let alone get there consistently. We definitely took the LaRussa-Pujols years for granted

@@Chiefs767 and we took both Mikes for granted too.
