Which animal is this? I thought human, but then I realized the carotid arteries aren't correct for humans. For us, the left common carotid attaches direct to the aortic arch. That said, this is still amazing for learning embryology for [human] medical school, just as long as we remember the correct adult vasculature. This video really helped me excel on my cardiology exam, so thanks so much for your painstaking hard work.

Arpad Bartha is correct. The animation is excellent but the major mistake is the arrows that show the flow of blood from the right atrium across the Fossa Ovalis to the left atrium and then into the pulmonary vein orifices (it remains uncorrected). The correct animation should show blood flow from the left atrium across the left atrio-ventricular valve (mitral valve) in the Left ventricle. I am a cardiac surgeon, I should know.

Am I the only one who has noticed that the blood, during the development of the atrial septum is flowing from the caval veins, through the right atrium, the oval foramen and the left atrium to the PULMONARY VEINS? That's wrong! From the left atrium the blood goes to the left ventricle, and then to the primitive aorta. Another problem: The common carotid arteries. Only the right common carotid artery arises from the brachiocephalic trunc (with the right subclavian artery). The left common carotid artery is directly arises from the aortic arch on the right side of the brachiocephalic trunc. The thoracic aorta has 3 major branches - while in this video there is only two. During the development of aortic (pharyngeal) arches the brachiocephalic trunc evolves from the area of the right ventral aorta between the 6th and the 4th arches. The right common carotid artery evolves from the area of the ventral aorta between the 4th and the 3rd arches. The right internal carotid artery evolves from the 3rd arch and from the cranial part of the dorsal aorta. The right internal carotid artery evolves from the right ventral aorta cranially to the 3rd arch. The right subclavian artery evolves from the right 4th aortic arch and from the right 7th intersegmental artery (distal part). On the left, the 4th aortic arch is gonna be the aortic arch. The area of the left ventral aorta between the 4th and 3rd arches is gonna be the left common carotid artery (et cetera, see above). Almost the whole left subclavian artery is evolves from the left 7th intersegmental artery. I am not a veterinarian, only a human anatomist, but i think the anatomy of other mammals is pretty similar to humans' Otherwise, this is a fantastic video! Sorry for my bad English - I'm Hungarian.
