Cardistry Tutorial: Chalice (Intermediate Two-Handed Cut)

Chalice is a two-handed cut utilizing some interesting mechanics and grips. A single-card is stripped out and flipped around, followed by a sequence of packets collapsing over one another. Cardists seem to have a liking for this flourish, and I hope you'll like it too :^)
I consider this flourish to be of intermediate difficulty as it may take some time getting used to the mechanics of the cut, as well as practice to get some of the motions consistent. However, with sufficient practice, I believe this cut to be accessible to even a beginner.
The tutorial consists of a verbal explanation, followed by a slow-motion follow-along. If any of you experience trouble with the cut, I'd recommend you to examine the follow-along carefully.
This tutorial is also available for download on Theory11's Marketplace here: www.theory11.c...

really awesome tutorial honestly. Did not think i'd be able to do it at first but by putting some time into it ive pretty much gotten it all down. I know this was uploaded quite some time ago, but as somebody who is only now entering this vast realm of cardistry, i want to say thank you for putting together these tutorials for free (god knows it's hard as it is to find free tutorials on actually decent looking flourishes). The one move with with i am experiencing difficulty is actually curving my middle finger in to bring the single card upon the rest of the packet at the end of phase 1. If you have any tips for this, please let me know.

Hey glad to see there are some people still out there benefiting from my past efforts :^) One thing I neglected to mention is bringing the single card onto the top packet relies a lot on the non-dealers-grip hand index finger. You can see at 4:59 where the back-face of the single card contacts my right index finger to get it to flip around. Basically use it as a pivot. So try not to place the card only with your dealers-grip hand, use your other hand's index finger, or even the packet itself, to help you out. Of course you should experiment with whatever way works best for you; cardistry is not an exact science. Good luck!

Tan T.H. thanks for the advice. I’l take everything i can get. On another note, however, i have begun to realize that what library of intermediate flourishes that does exist on youtube is smaller and much more condensed than i initially had presumed. Having now exhausted most of the tutorials on your account and virtually everywhere else, i was wondering if you have any plans to to upload more unique flourishes in the forthcoming weeks (your own of course, i don’t encourage piracy) . I’m sure you lead a very busy lifestyle and may not have time to consistently upload new content, but i need to decide if it is possible to sustain my cardistry addiction at essentially zero cost on youtube tutorials, or if it would be best to invest in a dvd from a reputable website like theory11. Please let me know if you have any upcoming plans, i enjoy every flourish thoroughly and continue to learn from your teaching.

@@okioltheepic Can't say for certain if there'll be more tutorials in the near future; if I could make all my flourishes available for learning in an instant I would, but making tutorials takes time :/ But rest assured, it's totally possible to learn cardistry at almost no cost. Check out Tien's playlist of cardistry tutorials on KZbin if you haven't already, there's a wealth of material there, just search 'Zomb Tien tutorial playlist' in the KZbin search bar. Tim Ananiev has generously made some really nice packet cuts of his available for free; search 'Tim Ananiev Sputnik' and go to the link in the video description. Anyone Worldwide has made some demonstration videos of some pretty challenging packet cuts on their KZbin channel too. Finally there's also the the cardistry subreddit - r/cardistry. It has a stickied post linking to a Google Doc with quite a long list of moves and tutorials. If you are interested in just watching more cardistry and getting some inspiration, Instagram has loads of talented cardists. That's just off the top of my head; there's probably tonnes more content out there I don't even know of or remember. Everyone's teaching will be different, but no cardist got good without a bit of patience :^) But of course feel free to invest in some paid content if you feel it will be worth your while. Good luck!

Thanks for the kind words :^) I might come up with a flourish once every couple of months these days, but I have flourishes that are a couple years old that I still find improvements for now and again, so it's a continuous process
