Btw the trick works way better with a double back. I think I’ve created a pretty good performance with this using fans and other flourishes. This trick is a really nice ice breaker/1st trick to do with someone so you can catch them off guard especially if they want to ruin your tricks.

I do this as the "Cheesy Magician" trick. When I put the cards behind my back to flip the top card, I say, "If I were cheesy magician I'd take the cards behind my back and do something silly with them." (turns cards over and brings them back out) "But I'm not. Instead, I'm going to magically take your card out of the deck, (mimes taking card out of deck) and turn it over, (mimes turning the card over) and place it back into the deck, face up".(mimes putting the card back) Then I can do a fancy spread/reveal and their card is the only one face up!

I just came from these guys' video explaining the david blaine ring and coat hanger trick and I love that they turned comments off despite asking for comments in the video because I'm sure a lot of the comments were saying it was a dumb explanation. I would do it like this- just start the trick with the bottom card flipped over, then they pick a card and while they’re looking at it you bring the deck down to your side and when you bring it back up for them to place the card in you bring it flipped over
