You are the first person ive known to grow Orchids like this since Rick L. I miss him. I also started growing my Orchids in stone , peeble media. I love it. I don't worry about root rot.

Danielle, Am re watching ur old videos & the rescue phal one has helped me again in my water culture attempt from a while ago. So far so good; am just trying to be patient as it does take time to “turn” them into liking water culture. I love to see their roots which water culture does allow. Thanks again & hope your life is good.

Would love to see the story/life of a plant. Have you thought about naming them and then doing follow up vidoes? ❤

Good luck with your beautiful plant! Regarding the pebbles, please do some plants for testing, as those look like they are not innert, and you might get salt burns on the roots. My safest bet is you could get lava rock or quarts gravel from aquarium shops(lava rock from other sources may have fuel added to it, so be careful).

Thank you for mentioning that, I did use this on my Pinguicula and she loves it and they have a very sensitive root system. I purchased a product that was meant for plant use. But I will still keep my eyes on it! Thank you for watching!

@@daniellesorchidranch1591 Pings are different from other carnivorous plants, I've read update report in-situ they grow in high mineral rocky sites, so they can take it, but, of course, they might do well like that as well. Just keep an eye for tip burns.

@@rianmilit that’s good to know, I was told they like as clean and fresh an environment as you can make it 🤨 I guess I need to do more research. Either way, she’s really happy and has three little pups growing! I really want to get more into carnivorous plants. I think they are so cool. I really want a sundew. 😎🤓

those stones may be a bit small, there isn't a lot of room for air gaps. You might want to consider river rock, pretty cheap for a big bag from Lowes or Home Depot, like $6 for a half cubic foot (in the garden center) and the stones are about the same size as your glass pebbles.

Thanks that’s a good point, I will definitely monitor the moisture in this to make sure and adjust accordingly. That’s a good note about the river rock because I have a lot of Cattleya’s that need to be repotted (to big for their containers) so I’m going to need a lot of supplies. 👍🏻

I don't know how much you were paying for glass stones, but I've seen them at the dollar store. ... Another place to check for stones is where aquarium supplies are sold. Because orchids are sensitive to disease, I'm reluctant to use natural porous stones from the garden center. Fish are also really sensitive to disease so I'm more confident using aquarium supplies. 💖🌞🌵😷

@@suzisaintjames river rock isn't porous but it is quite easily sterilized through boiling. You would need 80 bags of glass stones from the dollar store to equal 1 bag of river rock from a garden center. A bag of river rock at a pet store is around $8 for a 5 lb bag, or about 5 times as much.
