So much good information here, but this video bizarrely omits that UX and UI designers are VERY often ONE combined role, especially at product companies like Spotify. It's not just that some roles have overlap - Product Designers are generally responsible for both UX and UI, including prototyping wireframes and mockups (and sometimes even some front end development and/or user research). As someone who has spent my career as a Product Designer, I can promise this is kind of essential information to provide.

@@careerfoundry Sure! since I recently decided to quit my job and learn UI UX, I'm currently looking for an updated UI UX "roadmap" / path that consist : 1. What are the fundamentals skills / UI UX Skills to cover that can help ease the learning progress 2. Additional skills / tools / knowledge that might come in handy and relevant to the latest current UI UX work demand (design trend, new tools etc) 3. Difference in area of expertise to cover and master between UI designer and UX designer (to determine which one are more suited for me) 4. Estimated time of learning and mastering the field, at least to be considered professional This is what I've been researching on lately and hopefully relatable to people who are newly interested in UI UX or just want to switch their career just like me. User experience still gets to decide the content on that user interface and the functionalities/needs of everything on the page. User experience designer is the link between business and pure visual design. They translate business need and requirements into functional experience fueled with interactions to deliver the user's needs and fulfill business need, while ensuring the UI is capturing the intended experience, and able to communicate with dev, as well.

The part that trips me up is Im having trouble seeing where the UX ends and UI begins, given that there is some overlap. I understand that both are needed and achieve different things though. The UX role when working wiht wireframes and prototypes seems less tangle as to "This is where your part ends, hand off to the UI designer now." I'll get it eventually :D
