In 2008 Unilever closed the final salary pension scheme to new starts. This was to safeguard the scheme for existing members. A promise was made that existing members would be able to continue in the scheme. Just 3 years later Unilever propose to close the scheme!! agree "a sense of corporate social responsibility" is somewhat lacking

@0ldfish In the UK, Unilever has a reward package that we believe is competitive in the market place, this includes a pension arrangement. For new recruits this is a Career Average scheme which we introduced in 2008. We are currently in consultation with our UK employees about proposals to close our final salary plan to existing members and offer them pension arrangements similar to those introduced for new recruits in 2008.
