9:29 is misleading. It doesnt tell you whether the object is supposed to be rotating up, down, sideways or whether both objects have to ratoate in the same direction

Yeah it doesn't, but after a while you will figure it out by trying to rotate all the options. i was unsure of which way we where supposed to rotate to

Great videos. However some of the spatial tests like ASVAB doesn't give A B etc to help you assemble. Which makes it hard to figure out what piece goes where some times.

Yeah, that last one is tricky. Answer A is a vertically mirrored copy. Answer B is also the same, but rotated to the right by 90 degrees and then mirrored vertically, or rotated 90 degrees to the left and mirrored horizontally. The same applies to Answer C can be mirrored vertically and then horizontally so it looks the same, or rotated 180 degrees in either direction. Answer D can be rotated to the right by 90 degrees and then mirrored horizontally, or rotated 90 degrees to the left and mirrored vertically so it looks the same as the example. Basically, Answer C is correct because it requires only one type of "operation" (rotation only or mirroring/reflecting only) be performed on it so it looks the same as the example, while the others of course require a combination of rotating AND mirroring/reflecting so that they look the same. That is really an underhanded and (I hate to say it, but...) unfair question, because the placement of each individual block corresponds to that of each block in the original example, so they are all essentially the same. But how is it that the "operations" performed determine whether or not it is identical to the original, if it is true that each block's orientation is exactly the same as it is in the original? It takes a fair amount of analysis to see that Answer C is unique/correct relative to the others, and probably more than anyone would be willing to do under timed conditions. Boooooooooooooooo.

That's why you would fail if you did all that thinking... If you start with the questions proposition being 'identical' then you just look for an answer that is the 'most' identical. It's just C. Takes a few seconds to get that, move on.

White, cross, black? Nowhere does the question specify anything about being able to rotate but not flip. I hate questions like this. If square were to be flipped it would be identical to answer A...Flipped and rotated its B, and D. Technically they can all be considered identical. Questions like this I feel are very unfair. =-/

Yes but you have no evidence that you can see anything when it's flipped. So, if you don't know what it looks like when flipped, i.e it could be a plain wood when you flip it, you'd have to make a risk in hoping that it can be seen when flipped. On the other hand, you know for sure that you can rotate it and it'll look like such and such because they've shown you the top. Now lets raise the stakes a little. Get this question wrong and every single kid in Africa dies. So which option will be 100% correct, and not being vulnerable to assumptions like you being able to see the shapes when flipped?

+Bob Bobby I fully understand what you're saying, but do we really need much more "evidence" that one of them looks the same flipped anymore than we need evidence for whether it will look the same rotated? Maybe people like myself are overcomplicating the problem, but does flipping such an image really make it nonidentical to the original? Is there some kind of geometrical proof or something you can refer me to to demonstrate precisely why choices A, B, or D would be nonidentical to the example?

This is because by rotating, we don't change the shape altogether. We just look as if we are looking at it sideways or upside down. Don't consider it as rotation, just think that you are looking at it with your head upside down (try it literally). Flipping will change the shape completely.

You can flip it and place the triangle upside down. D is a perfectly valid answer as well. That's how spatial reasoning works. There is no means of selecting between B and D.

Hi, that is a good question. It would not be D due to how the letters on the box are arranged depending on which direction the box is facing. In this example, B is on the top line of the square shape meaning the triangle would go on top and the right angled triangle would go on the side to match answer B when rotated anti - clockwise. I hope I have been able to clear this up for you. Be sure to check out the other questions within this video.

That is correct. The time limits on these assessments are extremely strict. They are designed so that you are unable to finish the questions! That is why you need to remain accurate, as well as work of your efficiency skills.
