When I drill into the track. How do I feed in the last part of the fabric with the half inch of cord ? When I go to make it even I'm running into the gear on the end of the tube on the opposite side.

As usual, great video fellas. You guys should do a video about a broken tension spring for the Carefree line. If there's one on KZbin, I haven't been able to find it. If there is one, I'm sure yours will be better.

How timely that you made this video. I have a carefree omega which needs replacing and I was just wondering how to do this. Nice easy way to do it if things aren't jacked up and sticky like sometimes they are I just drill a hole in the end cap then I don't have to modify the channel

Hi Joseph! Unfortunately, the entire awning assembly is only available from the awning manufacturer... with their crummy OEM fabric of course. We've found the hardware holds up well enough to replace the fabric with Tough Top Awnings material, and then they last a long, long time!

I noticed you didn't mention the anti bellows locks. With the video I see where it goes. Can I buy parts for these awnings?

@@dprice1077 Sorry, but we’re not aware of anti-billowing locks on Carefree slide toppers - we’ve only seen them on A&E/Dometic models.

My Omega awning has a cover. I assume it all works the same except having to remove the cover?

Hi! We haven’t seen the Omega with a cover on it yet, but we’re going to assume that the cover is attached to the side of the RV and the fabric is attached to the cover like other types of slide toppers, yes? If so, the technique is pretty much identical to the non-cover types, in that you remove the fabric from the cover by sliding it out the same way you would slide it out out of a track on the RV. It might help to look at some of our other videos about awnings and slide toppers where we show other models with covers to see if they’re similar to yours, and the techniques we use. But we don’t expect that yours will be too much different, if any, than the steps we showed here. Sorry we’re not more certain about it, but again we haven’t actually seen the Omega with a cover in person.

Can you guys help me in identifying what model Care Free CO slide topper I have on my 2004 Monaco Camelot. It’s enclosed, but has bed caps like the open type. I don’t think it’s an SOK lll

Congrats on your new HR, Miss Me! Carefree of Colorado doesn't make the Omega combo slide-topper / window awning any more, but even if they did, we'd suggest that if you already have the window awning, but would like to add a slide topper, that the best way to do that is to simply install a slide topper, which will be completely separate from the window awning. You'll probably need to go to an RV dealer who carries the brand you want (either Carefree of Colorado or A&E/Dometic) and they can help you order the correct size slide topper. To anyone searching for the spring tension wind count for the Omega II or SOK II springs. Per the manual entitled: CAREFREE SPRING REPLACEMENT PART # R00731 SOK II: “The SOKII uses 17 winds when closed. Add 1 wind for each foot that the room is open. (i.e. if the room is open 1' add 1+17 = 18 winds)” and OMEGA II: “ This procedure describes the room open, awning closed. ROOM WIDTH WINDS 10' or less : 21 winds or 10'1" and longer 23 winds”
