Carefree Slide Topper - Pin Tab Installation Confusing

Posting this in order to see if I'm missing something obvious, because this pin tab for the anti-billowing lock for my Carefree Slide Topper doesn't seem to fit.

Well, I just spent about two hours trying to figure out how to install the tab bracket then came to KZbin and found this video. Exactly my problem. Reminds me of the Senior Chief in the Navy directions. The right way, the wrong way, the Navy way, and anyway that works. I am selecting the last way of drilling my own holes. The next day I installed the awning and have decided to just predrill small pilot holes and then use the self-taping screws that I got with the kit. I don't like the workmanship but will just have to live with it.

Aug. 2022. I hope everyone has figured this out by now. When the anti-billowing actuator. Is pressed in. It hits that mystery bracket. Put the bracket on the end of the fabric mast. Press in the actuator. Rotate the bracket clockwise. Until it hits the actuator. Back off 1/8 inch. Drill pilot hole and install mounting screws. You may need to let your slide out a bit, to get to the second hole. They come with a white plastic circle. This is to be attached to your siding. Where the actuator hits. Protects the fiberglass. I glued mine on.

It comes with 2 self tapping screws you use ,the holes are for nothing. Put slide in and attach in the back

I was told to mount that thing at 1 o’clock position and you set that screw to where it is a quarter inch away from that little protecting pad that’s how I was told to do it

I had a couple people just tell me to position it properly and then drill a hole into the roller tube to secure it. Ignoring the pre-drilled holes. I have not actually done it yet.

Happily RV Those two holes you’re talking about in that plastic in cap On that pole is not pre-drill holes for that I thought the same thing I went to a place where they put these on and all this thing does is prevents that thing from un raveling from the wind, he told me to put it at the 1 o’clock Position use the self tapping screws and it will go into that metal when you put it on there you’ll figure it out so once I put it on there I kind of played like the Wind and I saw how it catches and then unscrew that setting about an 8th inch from where it doesn’t hit the RV on that protecting cap, I can give you my email and we could change numbers and talk about it on the phone which I prefer to do

Installed my pin tab bracket on top of the roller using the self tapping screws. When the slide out is all the why in the set screw pushes the plunger over and locks the pin tab and roller in place and will not spin free. Go to run 90-100 mph now

The anti billowing part is not made correctly screw holes do not line up as in the video if modified probably will lead to catastrophic failure going down the road

the end piece broke in half, I don't know why and when I replaced it the second one broke in half. the design on this item is absolutely a piece of shit. the other awning I have looks much sturdier with piece of solid metal connecting the body to the tube.
