Life as a family stay at home caregiver. A complete day as a family caregiver to my mom. I share my daily routine, schedules, and care. Caregiving is straight up difficult for everyone. But, after time I'm making it work for all of us in our home and spreading some inspiration and hope to others. Remember, everyone's caregiving journey is different. Here's a glimpse into my journey as a stay at home caregiver.

I'm a 25 year old full-time family caregiver who cares for both of my parents with disabilities and my older brother with down syndrome who recently went blind. Thank you so much for posting content to inspire us and make us feel less alone. Caregiving can be super lonely especially my being pretty young because my peers simply cannot understand. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with to-do lists and watching you has helped me get ideas on how to make things easier on myself. Just thank you. You are amazing! Sending all the love 💕

I am a registered nurse and I just want to say how wonderful, caring and beautiful it is the things you do for your mom. You take care of her but not only that you do, you do it with love and actual care. It really is so special and beautiful and I hope many people who watch your video or learn from you will help do this for their loved ones as well.

Thank you Yelena. As an RN, I'm sure you see so much. I worked in healthcare, and I'm now seeing from the patient side of things. I'm very grateful for all the nurses who do so much for our love ones! And thank you so much for stopping by my channel.

I’m rewatching this. I needed a little inspiration or “you can do this” mojo. We’re dealing with a new challenge. A different - and challenging - phase in caregiving. And, I admit it’s wearing on me. I love that quote too. Caring for those who once cared for us is indeed one of the highest honors. I think back on these past 15 years as her caregiver. My husband and I frequently say having her here with us has blessed us more than we imagined possible. It’s true. My husband is great with my Mom too. ✳️ I’m representative payee for my Dad. I do the annual reports online. His is simple. He’s in a memory care facility and the monthly cost there is 6 or 7 times the amount he receives in social security. ✳️ I take the same vitals for my Mom. Not every day though. A few times a week. We had to switch to a wrist BP monitor because Mom just wasn’t tolerating the squeeze on her arm and I was having a hard time getting it adjusted loosely enough to not create pain - which of course increased her BP which defeated the purpose. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The wrist monitor is working fine. I have one of Carrie Elle’s meal planners - and I’ve NEVER used it. ✳️I really should get a baby monitor. Since she’s mobile - she’s sometimes up in the night while we sleep or up earlier than us. Especially if she’s having a pain episode. I could get on top of it sooner. She will not wake us up. I tried a monitor years ago - but she would turn it off! So, I gave up on it. ✳️ Mom’s hearing is too bad for listening to TV or audio books or music. But, her eyesight is great. So, she reads a lot. Lots of books. Magazines and the newspaper. In the evening during supper prep - we have what I call “current events” time. Mom will read aloud from the newspaper and give us her take on the topic. Sometimes, it’s a comedy routine before supper. ✳️ We tiptoe around here during Mom’s naps. She needs the restorative sleep. We need the quiet time. In the kitchen - we muffle sounds with dish towels. Since, her hearing is so bad - any clang noise is startling to her. A sudden noise in her dulled quiet. ✳️We’ve never called in outside help. I don’t think M9m would be receptive. I’ve had a close family member come in and clean for me. But, that’s been far and few between. ✳️ Such a good job you both do as caregivers. Queen G is blessed to have you both.

Oh I hope all is ok Ginger! And I'm glad you rewatched for some kind of comfort. We too used the dish towel to muffle the sounds in the kitchen. I wish my mom had better eye site. The stroke took partial of it away. I really want to call in another relief caregiver once a week, but now that there is another surge or peak, I don't think so anymore. I sure hope you know that my thoughts and prayers are always with you. Together, we will make it for sure! You're such a wonderful caregiver and daughter to your mom. It sure does shows!

@@DeeLovelyLife It’s not a terrible problem. Mom (95) is adjusting to needing to wear pull-ups or pads. It’s a challenge. Her short-term memory loss won’t let her remember to replace them with a new one. And, I’m not used to needing to check her. I’m thinking of putting a sign in her bathroom. But, when I say “here Mom, put these on so you’ll stay dry”. She says “I don’t have a problem keeping dry!” 🙄 So, I’m watching her and keeping a mop handy. It’s like reverse potty training. ✳️ And now… my dear sweet husband fell and somehow perforated his small intestine. After a few days of stubbornness - I called an ambulance to get him to the hospital. He had emergency surgery. So, our team took a hit. ✳️ We shall persevere. And, call for help when needed! My cousin stayed with Mom so I could stay with hubby at the hospital. Our neighbor is tending to all our varmints and collecting eggs. Challenges… to give me longer legs for deeper strides. ❤️

Does Queen G use the therapeutic "hand putty" from physical/occupational therapy? My mom uses the green putty and the therapist put in these plastic beads. I knead it up really good and then she has to pull out the beads. Thought I would mention it for fine motor skills. Everyone is different though. My doc told me not to use it for my own hand pain.

This video is SO HELPFUL! How did you learn to do this all of this correctly for mom? Did you get an of advisor or attorney to help you regarding the social security and pension etc. ? I am in the “wreck stage” Quickly navigating mom’s finances and running two households essentially. 😢

I read and researched most things myself. I also spoke to a clerk at the social security office who explained it all to me.

You contact social services & they will assess the personal & their needs & guide you through the process. You can be paid to be a caregiver for a family member.

There are specific requirements to get paid, each state is different. I don’t qualify in my state of California.
