Very many thanks, this is really helpful. You filled the gap left by the very limited support material from Carenado. The F50 had real character (like the F27), so I was happy when Carenado released this for X-plane. The manuals might have been limited, but my impressions is they got the 'feel' of the real thing right.

Great video, than you! It helps me a lot in understanding the plane. As the documentation thats comes with the plane is very limited, to you know about some informations that explain a bit more the different displays for example for the engines etc ? I would like to understand more what they exactly mean, Thank you very much once again!
@SimulationChannelDeluxe3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad that you enjoyed the tuto :) Do you mean the engine gauges like NH, ITT, NL etc.? Well they're quite standard for a turboprop aircraft and it would take too long to explain them here. As long as nothing goes into the red, it should be fine ;) The TRQ% meters in the top center are especially useful though to not overstress the engines. Cheers

Found a mistake there ... you take the ground idle stop to off ... it should be on for TO. That's what it's there fore. During a rejected TO, you should not use reverse, cuz it would take you longer (further) to stop. Taking ground idle stop to off, is something you do on approach only. Other things .. I think you take off the flight controls lock only shortly before entering the runway. They lock the control surfaces in place and also prevent you from going to flight range with the power levers. So on the ground, only beta (ground) range for the power levers (except on the runway obviously)
@Chapter3Fan2 жыл бұрын
Flight control lock The flight-control lock should be engaged during taxiing and parking. After setting the flightcontrol lock, move the control column slightly forward and bring the ailerons and rudder to the neutral position; check the flight controls are locked. When releasing the lock, be aware of flight control movement due to wind. The PF should keep his feet on the rudder bar while the PNF should hold the control wheel.
@Chapter3Fan2 жыл бұрын
Ground idle stop A selectable GND IDLE STOP mechanism is installed on the pedestal to prevent selection of the power levers to the REV position during a rejected take-off. Due to propeller pitch change characteristics the propeller pitch rate is reduced when large changes are required. This is noticeable in a rejected take-off with the power levers selected from the T/O detent to the REV position. During a rejected take-off the stopping distance with the power levers selected in the REV position may require more distance than with the power levers selected in the GND IDLE position. NOTE: The ground idle stop is NOT used for landing as the propeller pitch change characteristics are not restrictive. The use of reverse during landing is unrestricted.
@Chapter3Fan2 жыл бұрын
Also, I think it's not logical to first tell the plane to climb IAS mode at 170 or 175 kts, and then later adjust the pitch on the autopilot panel ... F50 logic is .. you set a speed ("full power" controlled by an engine mode) and the plane will pitch up to keep the speed and thus climb ... reverse for descent, you go to flight idle and to keep the speed up, the plane will control the pitch to go down. I believe it's more common practice to control the climb or descent rate with the power levers .. Add a bit of power during descent to go down slower .. reduce power some during climb to go up slower.
@Chapter3Fan2 жыл бұрын
The sim should also be programmed that you can't go below flight idle when the gear is not touching the ground, but that's up to Carenado to program in ..
@Chapter3Fan2 жыл бұрын
On the engine rating panel, I believe you should not select GA for landing, as it will be selected upon touchdown automatically .. then after 16 seconds on the ground, it will change to TO. In case of a GA, you'd press the button that is in the knob of the power levers while you set power, which will enable GA mode as well.

Hard to control Vertical Speed on this plane
@microRiZu3 жыл бұрын
If they had ported their ATR 72-500 it would've sold very well AFAIK, the P3D/FSX version is actually very good considering carenado. and MOST of people i ask say they love ATRs would love to fly them in XP11 over Q400 but sadly there're no options at all.

If you don’t mind I have one last question : after flying the plane a couple of time I find it quite difficult to slow the plane down during approach. Is there any thing I could do to reach the runway at a slower speed as the Fokker has no speed brakes.... thank you very much if you find time for an answer :-)
@SimulationChannelDeluxe3 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true, the plane is very slippery and doesn't like slowing down. There's nothing to do against it, just a good descent planning to descend early and having the time to slow down... Cheers
@phipsd83884 жыл бұрын
How did you apply reverse thrust? somehow in my sim it isn't working, I push the "end" button, hit F2 (like in any other plane) and nothing happens. please help me, because landing without reversers is annoying.

Really nice tutorial, and was looking forward to try this, but... I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem. I just bought this addon for XPlane11, and first of all the menu at the bottom left corner is missing ( A C O ). Also none of the buttons in the cockpit are working. I hear a clicking sound but no animation.

@SimulationChannelDeluxe4 жыл бұрын
As you can see at 31:14 for example, relatively close to redline speed. The lower the cruise altitude, the easier it is to get to redline speed and even overspeed the plane. So it's all about throttle management, also when using the CRZ thrust setting.
@AbsolutelyEverybody14 жыл бұрын
@@SimulationChannelDeluxe I was referring to TAS (True Air Speed).
