Flying PopulAir next month on my way back from Finland, thought I'd take a slightly different route. Very excited!

As a pilot, currently on the Airbus A321 and previously have flown the Airbus A330, 320, Fokker 50 and Bae Jetstream 31/32 I can honestly say that this video warms my heart. My 900hours on the Fokker 50 is the best time in my entire aviation career, it is truly a robustly built, reliable aircraft with amazing loading cababilities, STOL abilities and the possibility to fly rnav as well as CAT ll Approaches. It is not to say the least also very plesant to fly. One thing I remember clearly is that as the Stewardess entered the cockpit, it was on eyes to eyes level as the cockpit is located a bit up from the cabin. Fokker 50 ❤️

Lot's of memories as a passenger on Avianca Fokker 50s, flying around in Colombia. Loved it then, and it's great to see that it's still loved by the people that keep it flying.

I don't know what I was expecting when I clicked on this, but I'm glad I did. Real people doing real jobs, with a quiet passion. Everyone is in such a rush these days, you can get around the world in one of these. In time ;) It's a pity great old aircraft like this have to be always replaced with something new, but hats off to the airline for keeping these birds flying. Thanks again for the video.

I took F50 from Riga to Kaunas back in the days when Air Baltic was still flying these birds. I remember this flight as one of the most pleasurable of all turboprops I took later. Love F50

I've had a great time working at Fokker. And it's wonderful to see something I worked on, I've designed the Engine De-icing Control unit, still going strong. I have the proto for the EDC, which I build myself, with the mechanical work done by Arie, here. Unfortunately without the main electronics board as the proto was in my work bench when Fokker went bust, and not in of with the proto in the proto cabinet at Elab.

Living right next to Amsterdam airport, I've seen these birds fly over on a daily basis. Still miss seeing them really... :/

I have seen these jets flying, I live in Helsinki and on the summer I see these above. How to recognize: prop plane, wings on the upper side of the fuselage, those mini wings at the back are not on the tail and you can always just look it up from fr24

As aircraft mechanic I started my career working on fokker 50, I carry on working many aircraft but I don't get that Pleasures as when I was working on f50. Thanks for this video it bring me good memories ❤

Thank you for this video. As an AMT myself, I'm so interested in how this F50 functions on a technical level, and I suspect this vid is the closest I'll ever get to any understanding. But you've about convinced me to take a vacation to Sweden just to fly Amapola!

I flew the Fokker 50 yesterday (7/4/22) operated by Skyward Express from Mombasa to Nairobi and the experience was so nervous especially the descent in preparation for landing. Its not something you want to experience if you have phobia for heights

You really need to be verry familiar to the Fokker-50 to understand why it is such a fun aircraft. Though.... i once put a label on the trottle quadrant near the max power position labled "Slow ahead"
@AbsolutelyEverybody1 Жыл бұрын
It's a powerful aircraft isn't it the Fokker 50??
@pascalcoole2725 Жыл бұрын
@@AbsolutelyEverybody1 Yupp but it is slow 220 Max until about Fl200 If I well remember, above that it drop to 190. Max Fl is Fl250 but it will cost you ages to get there.
@AbsolutelyEverybody1 Жыл бұрын
@Pascal Coole but those speeds you said - thats IAS. I'm talking about TAS. Because that's the true speed of the aircraft in terms of how fast its travelling from point A to point B (without factoring in wind).
@pascalcoole2725 Жыл бұрын
@@AbsolutelyEverybody1 You're absolutely right. My point however is that modern comperable aircraft like for instance ATR42 are faster (IAS and there for also TAS) under the same condition) Furthermore it's over 20 years ago i've held any stick at all, i might be slightly off.
@AbsolutelyEverybody1 Жыл бұрын
@Pascal Coole I think F50s can cruise up to 270 knots (TAS) which is still reasonable. The F50 has powerful engines but that power is to manage the weight - the F50 is a heavy aircraft, heavier then a lot of other turboprops. But it makes the F50 a strong aircraft - built to last. It can have around 90,000 cycles. Also in regards to IAS, see below: Maximum operating limit speed (Vmo) Up to 21.000 feet: 224 KIAS Above 21.000 feet: Vmo decreases linearly to reach 206 KIAS at 25.000 feet

Alliance Airlines based in Brisbane, Australia operate a fleet of 43 Fokker 100, Fokker 75 and Fokker 50 aircraft and have a number of maintenance bases across Australia for Fokker aircraft. Although they operate some regular passenger services, their main business is charter for the FIFI (fly in, flyout) moving workers to remote mining camps throughout Australia. They have recently expanded their fleet with the purchase of Embraer E190 jets, with a number wet leased to Qantas Airlines.

Alliance retired their five Fokker 50 last year. Three of them were sent to Air Panama (via ferry flying) and the other two were broken up for spare parts and those spare parts were also sent to Air Panama too. So Alliance Airlines has no more Fokker 50 aircraft in their fleet.
