Çirali in Turkey is a great place to eat stuffed aubergine. It is also an important nesting site for the endangered Loggerhead Turtle, known locally as Caretta Caretta. Here, volunteers from the village are checking the nests to assist any hatchlings that are struggling to leave the egg or reach the surface. The juveniles, (not really) known as "squirtles", are then placed in a cool place until midnight when they are released. Filmed August 2012.
