So I decided to replace a couple of tired looking bits on the RS for some new items. Simple task but makes all the difference :)

Hello mate it’s great to have you back and to see the mighty RS again even in the garage (which is the best place with this weather!). The boot trim looks good and the gaiter is a definite result too. Look forward to the next one mate. 👍🏻

I recently replaced both those panels on my ST, it made a big difference. I did enquire with my local ford dealer about those other small trims you mentioned at the start of the video. One was unavailable, the other side was very expensive. Next job for me is to dye the parcel shelf black with fabric dye. I've used it plenty of times before for various things and its always worked well.

The little touches make a big difference don’t they. Thanks for the info regarding the other two pieces - I might actually try mu local scrap yard to see what’s about - you never know. Any idea if they did a black parcel shelf at all? Dying seems to be an interesting alternative, hope it works out 👍🏻👍🏻

actually thinking about putting some alcantara or suede material on all gray plastics in the interior, its a big job but ive seen one RS where it was done and i must say it takes the RS interior to another level
@CarFocused3 ай бұрын
I actually saw a white MR375 Clubsport on Instagram that has just had an alcantara trim fitted. It’s not for me but it was done well 👍🏻

The trims are absolutely identical on any mk2 focus hatchback, only difference is the facelifts have a different boot door trim

Yea that’s right mate 👍🏻

Hello Gary did some great restoration job there. Congrats. I find a difficulty replacing my licence light. By removing the upper boot trim as you did is there a way that i can access to the back side of the said lump plastic so that i can push it outwards?
@CarFocused28 күн бұрын
To remove the number plate lights you just have to insert a small flat head screwdriver into the little hole at the end of the lens and pop them out - no need to remove boot trim etc 👍🏻

Looks brand new now with the new bits of trim....you highlighted the horrible two bits of sticky film which Ford employed to act as tailgate bump stops....always wound me up over 3 years of ownership as they always came away....Ford coughed up the cash for proper rubber ones on the mk3 so why they couldn't do it on the mk2 is anyones guess....Yours has worn well....mine if it's still around will be 15 years old in July...can;t believe how times flown..

Thanks mate. Yes it’s really annoying how Ford cut corners on certain things which created subsequent weak points in terms of rust / wear. End up spending a lot of time correcting their cock ups 🙈

If you had a MK1 RS would you get rid for a MK2?

I used to have a Mk1 mate, loved it, but out of the 3 I’ve owned the Mk2 has been my favourite 😃

I only realised watching the video back that one of the metal clips on the slam panel stayed in the hole - so I must have pushed it through when fitting the new panel - thought it was a bit stubborn on that end 🙈🤦🏼♂️

@@CarFocused I saw it, assumed you'd left it off the corresponding post on the trim. Either way a good wallop did the trick.
