The C-17 Globemaster III flies in formation with a C-47 Skytrain at the 2024 Charleston Air Expo/Heroes of Flight. Shot on Saturday, April 21.
Joint Base Charleston is home to several C-17s, and it was the first base to receive the C-17 in 1991. This one is from the 315th Reserve Wing. The C-47 Skytrain is the military adaptation of the DC-3 Gooney Bird. it was used for cargo and troop transport during WWII. This C-47, "7H", is owned by the Liberty Foundation. The size difference between these aircraft is pretty staggering.
This is my first air show shooting with my new camera, the Sony FDR-AX53. As a result, the video quality isn't the best. I am still trying to figure out how to get the best results out of this camera. I appreciate the patience while I work through this. I did not record as much from the show as I had wanted to, as I was messing with settings and recovering from the heat. I also accidentally set my frame rate to record interlaced video. Sorry if this ruins the experience for anyone. I hope I can resolve this and figure out how to get better quality video for the Cherry Point Air Show next month.
Enjoy! :)
