To keep the sled tracking in a straight line you need to camber to skis so that the distance between skis at front is 1/8" less than the rear. Center to center. "Pigeon toed" This keeps the nose of the sled centered, it cannot veer off to the side.

When are you going to start on the log home again? Hello from Denver Colorado ☮🇺🇸

+TAVOR VICEROY VALDOR I'm doing a bit of work right now for the log cabin, but digging the foundation will start as soon as the snow clears. Thanks for asking!

hey... maybe add a skeg for trail stability.. i have seen them on polks and they work great..
@TheOutsiderCabin9 жыл бұрын
+James Reid What's a polk? lol
@jamesreid29399 жыл бұрын
TYPO ALERT.. P-U-L-K.... its basically a sled the you pull for winter snow hiking... and a skeg is that rudder/fin you see on surfboards.. disregard if you knew what I was talking about and are just busting chops from typo LOL
@TheOutsiderCabin9 жыл бұрын
James Reid lol No I wasn't busting your chops. It had actually slipped my mind what a pulk is. Yeah, good suggestion. I'd have to make the skeg rugged enough to go over rocks where the snow is thin, but I'm sure I could come up with something. Maybe something like a snowmobile ski carbine. Those are built to take rough ground.
@jamesreid29399 жыл бұрын
awesome idea.. also with the pulks a lot of ppl are using two fiber glass poles in an X configuration to give them stability going down hill.. i wonder if an X configuration of the cedar connected to your snow mobile would do the same
@thankfullife79687 жыл бұрын
Cool project but downhill skis are better for two reasons, wider so they ride higher in the snow and two if you run the ice for fishing the merely edges cut and grip better than cross country skis that just slide sideways.
@Akeboun8 жыл бұрын
What type of wood did you use? I'm no scientist but over time won't it rot? I mean unless you out some coating on it between clips.
@joshuakozee57199 жыл бұрын
should the pieces of cedar be dry first? i only have pine, not cedar in ct
@TheOutsiderCabin9 жыл бұрын
+Josh Kozee I think the cedar pieces are small enough that they won't shrink very much when they dry. Worst case scenario, I just might have to tighten up a few screws in a year or two. I think pine would work just as well.

Would a lab be a good sled dog?
@anakinshaker36807 жыл бұрын
lexibilty Depending on how strong your dog is and how heavy the passenger is, you don’t want to over work him and if your passenger is older and heavier than you should definitely have 2 dogs pulling so you don’t over work your lab. You can make him stronger with conditioning and all that jazz.
