How stupid am I?! I thought about making a full size mock up of my design but never considered a much smaller model! Thank you for prompting me to consider something much smaller to test my design!

Congrats from Brazil, please Pedro, turn on the subtitles, this projetct is amazing, and i will start to make one soon, but i will not make cargo, only a trike to transport me and my daughter with 11 years

Hello Jorge, indeed this video did not have subtitles. They are usually created automatically but for some reason, in this video, it didn't work. If you see my most recent build, it does have subtitles: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6azd3l_lr5rbMUsi=pqZOUaSMyBJclad0. Good luck with the build for you and your daughter! Cheers!

3D printing is a great way to test geometry, but unless you are printing ABS with CF at 100% infill, I don't think you are going to have sufficient structure, particularly with braking forces.
@pedro-neves
@pedro-neves 3 жыл бұрын
I agree fully! I'm printing with PLA at 20% infill to iterate to a geometry that I'm happy with. Also I'll try to optimize design for strength.

This is amazing, will you be sharing the 3D printed files of the double wishbone to modify please?
@pedro-neves
@pedro-neves 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you;) I will share the drawing files of everything. Next video that I'll release I'll share the drawings of the parts to make the wheels (and I'll explain why I'm making wheels). In the video after that I'll have an improved version of the suspension and share drawings. But these will be all metal parts. If you want actually the files of the 3D printed parts of the version 01, let me know and I'll make them available.

I think you have made it much too complicated for a bike, given most have no suspension..I am looking into this because a reverse trike doesn't work too well when the ground is not flat, one front wheel going into a hole tips the whole bike. But I think you can use a simple trailing arm setup to give vertical movement that is still along the outer edge and have the entire unit pivot like no=suspension tadpole trikes. Maybe use some torsion bars instead of springs. Simpler is better with bikes.
@pedro-neves
@pedro-neves 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Murray. Actually, I'm also a fan of simple. Like da Vinci said "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication";). And I will get there. Just need to iterate a little bit. And, the next version will have a tilting mechanism;) I think it will be pretty good in stability. In any case, I'll keep iterating until I get something that works very well.

Smashing that bearing into the hub with the hammer face and not even using a brass block or anything come on man you're better than that, also that printed material isn't going to stand up to repeated banging and the brake forces on the hub. I hope that's just a scale model prototype and not the finished article.
@pedro-neves
@pedro-neves 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I definitely recommend against hammering bearings. Best would be to use a press or a vice. Thanks for the heads up! When making instructional videos, things should be done the proper way. Noted and will apply more in the future. The printed parts are prototypes. A way to develop geometry. Nice build and it even looks very beautiful... Which is important in my opinion! Personally i would enjoy to take it for a testride until it reveals all the weak spots (-; how much weight do you think it will carry in the long run? But... I would miss using my hips kzbin.info/www/bejne/raG4dZdsf6lsj7csi=wMuqfQTOhJIb-Ist

Hello, nice riding in Christiania, on that video;) This trike that I made broke out shortly after being made, but I kept improving the design and build. Checkout the latest if you're interested. I'm testing now with 40 kg cargo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6azd3l_lr5rbMUsi=CIws-02qEh6G3C3P. Cheers!

Thanks for making me remember how much i love bikes! In times with environmental challenges... Just a great invention in general and your build looks awesome and fun to ride! And the fact that you made your own hubs is quite impressive and leaves me with huge respect! (-: I'm not a theoretical builder like you but I used to drive bikes for a living and I'm quite sure 40.kg should work fine! But... I kind a have a feeling that the point where the tube for the steering/handlebar is welded to the main/horizontal tube will be a weak spot if more weight is added.. If you put this beauty into production as a people carrier you could add a "minor" tube (convex or...) approximately 20-30.cm up on the vertical tube going forward on the main/horizontal tube... To release a bit of the pressure where it's currently welded together. But Hey... I'm just a farmers boy! Which country do you live in? I'm guessing you're dutch? And keep up the good work! Simple and efficient! It's on my wishlist I feel (-:
