hey bud, my step father was cargo pilot and i flew with him a few times. The toilet on cargo (it was a lufthansa MD11) looks just like the toilets in a passenger plane, cargo also has a kitchen with stove, coffeemaker and food, the pilots just prepare the food themself! Pilots have a lot of time while inflight. long flights have 3 officers onboard so 1 can sleep at any point. Also if just 2 officers, one can leave the cockpit (atleast for a few minutes) if the other is in control. cargo also has a few (2?) passanger seats next to the kitchen, sometime people have to stay with cargo for different reasons. (we transported horses once, and had a horse handler with us). Also i was a passenger ofcourse, but the cockpit has 4 seats aswell (pilot, copilot, SFO and a jumpseat).

I have to be honest, I never get tired of having kids come up in the flight, deck and me letting them push buttons and watching their eyes light up and glow! I’ve been flying for 20 years, and never get tired of that. Of all the other problems and perks, this is the one I always come back to! As frustrating as it may be sometimes, cargo guys don’t get that. That being said, and I mean this, to each their own! I know guys that were born to do the cargo thing, but I absolutely love the interaction with the passengers! It really makes my day!

Mark Bailey I don't think so. I mean, yeah, there's no one terrorizing people in a cargo plane (unless you come up with a stupid plan to get in the plane), but it can also be sent by mail/package/whatever you call it. Remember the person who tried to bomb Phillipine Airlines flight 434? THAT person put a hidden bomb in a piece of luggage, but detonated it 4 HOURS later. Meanwhile on a cargo plane, you wouldn't be equally safe. As I'm not a commercial passenger/cargo pilot (only X Plane/FSX/IF/TFS), I don't know for sure what to tell you, but take a piece of advice from me; if you go to be a cargo pilot someday (I'm not saying you HAVE to), that's what you have to worry about. - Lincoln's Aviation There are more downsides than these!

I still remember drawing a realistic plane with one of those "how to draw (insert vehicle) realistically!" books while flying and then giving the drawing to the captain after landing, and then being let in to the cockpit afterward. Hearing now that pilots don't mind and even enjoy letting random kids check out the cockpit has assured my mind, because I thought all these years that I was doing something basically illegal by entering the cockpit as a non-pilot/worker!

Jamez channel - Having worked for a cargo company MANY years ago (Don't ask how many, you whippersnapper, or I'll whack you with my cane.), I can tell you that cargo has a lot of pluses to it. HOWEVER, the one major downside is as a cargo pilot, is that you will be working during the normal social hours. And, if you do meet up with friends earlier in the afternoon, you won't be allowed to drink. However, Cargo flights aren't bad, either. ;) At least you don't have to worry about that passenger that failed to show up for his or her flight. ;)

Can you do a video with/about a pilot who flies small commercial flights? Like short distance, Alaskan or remote trips, or island hopping planes like my home of Jamaica. I flew back and forth from Jamaica to FL hundreds of times, but always on a full size jet, but I very often saw small prop planes, or tiny jet planes... and I always wondered what the difference is. Is it a different career? Do you work up in size? Is it a choice or a stepping stone on the path to bigger planes? It's a cool topic and I'm sure I'm not the only one curious about it. May sound as a stupid question, but I always wondered about - does Cargo airline does not have a flight attendant at least to serve the pilots? Do they have to prepare the meals by themselves?

On short flights they don´t need to eat in flight and on longer flights there is a third pilot who can prepare meals/eat in the time he/she having a break. An additional flight attendant would be to expensive. The airline doesn´t want to pay someone the whole time just for serving a meal every few hours.

It also depends on how many job vacancies there are for cargo vs passenger. There are many more passenger airlines than cargo, so it’s much easier getting a job flying people. Cargo is a different world, and have a whole different set of challenges. At the end of the day you both are correct, get a job, any job, and build hours and experience. Once you have that, then you can pick any job you want. Great job on the video 👍🏻
