The yaris cross is brilliant, if you drive town and country, you could like me achieve 64 mpg. It does not rev with the CvT like the old yaris model, and only sounds noisy because of the difference between electric power and petrol engine ,which is not very noticeable anyway, I bought mine new this year, and CANNOT fault it. If you want more room then go for the Rav 4 or the Corolla Cross model.
@dean710 Жыл бұрын
We got our in April this year. It suits our needs and we love it especially the fuel economy! Most of all it’s a Toyota, which we have reverted back to which are far better vehicles than the last two Vauxhall’s we previously owned! We are never buying anything but Japanese vehicles
@robh92072 жыл бұрын
Pretty good review. You don't really cover the way the ev and petrol engine work around town however. It's possible to achieve over 100mpg.
@markatkins51272 жыл бұрын
Actually visited a Toyota garage today and compared the standard Yaris and Corolla with the Yaris Cross. The Yaris Cross offers about the same rear space as the Corolla, but far better visibility for rear passengers. It's actually very good in the back, and does offer the extra room you'd wish for over the standard Yaris. It's just a pity those rear doors not opening wide enough, have created such a poor initial impression, reinforced by the penny-pinching approach - no proper rear armrest, no rear air vents, no charging points, and no rear seat pockets. Just seats, in fact.
@zwieseler2 жыл бұрын
I've had a Yaris Cross for 8 months, and never really noticed the rear door opening distance. Re, the issues you mention about missing features in the rear, it's pretty much a car for two people so no biggie there either. What is huge in the car is all the technology, customisable adaptive cruise control, steering assist, it reads road signs, and has a host of accident avoidance tech as well.
@pittmotoring2 жыл бұрын
Nice review. I recently had the Yaris Cross to test also, I found the same in the back and was a struggle with the rubber protective backing on the seats to put the seats back up, something as simple as just a cut out where the latch was would make it so much easier. I found it a pleasure to drive though and as always Toyota's hybrid system is great.

I thought the focus on fitting the child seat was a bit harsh to start - but, I guess, quite a few families will view the regular Yaris as too small, and ‘look up’ to this cross version for that extra space. I do wonder if anyone senior at Toyota has tried to sit in the back of this car?

A great review Rebecca some interesting food for thought. Performance for me might be an issue though with my 30 mile commute to work involving motorways, country roads and city traffic. If they had a more cooking version, say instead of the Yaris Cross to a Yaris Angry or Yaris Livid it might just be worth considering. In this form the Yaris Cross seems more like a Yaris Upset. Styling looks great and as space should be fine for my use though so I might take a test drive anyway when it cones to change.

How is it compare to the Seat Arona or VW T-Cross?
@elmodiddly Жыл бұрын
I've jus traded in my Arona, hated it by the end. Leaks in the rain from somewhere so I steam up all the time, and has little bits missing such as above door handles or hangars for suit jackets. The quoted mpg for the Arona was only ever a pipedream, with a quoted max of 53 mpg they must have got their figures the wrong way around as I have hardly had above 35! Seriously let down by a daft satnav system and steering wheel controls that protrude so much you continually knock them as you turn the steering wheel, so either the satnav changes, the radio does, the screen display changes or you just deafen yourself as you crank up the volume. After 9 months I'd had enough of the Arona and got this Yaris Cross. It's quirky but far, far better than the nonsense that Seat push out.

Hard to fall in love with this car considering its competition. I'd take the Puma in a heartbeat. More driver engagement, better looks and more than enough practicality for any small family. The Toyota only beats it by likely being more reliable and affordable to maintain. Great review all the same. A 'must-watch' for anyone looking into this car.

Yaris cross is the best in class by far. Don’t even think to mention any pure garbage cars like Ford puma or juke (joke) you know why, because of the best drive train that Toyota offers. All little niggles put aside no one offers better cars with ice than Toyota currently.

Interestingly, Toyota had Yaris nameplate in India as well but it was a completely different car from the Yaris sold in UK. The Yaris sold in India was a premium C-segment sedan while the Yaris in UK is a premium hatchback - not even the hatchback version of Yaris sedan. I don’t get why Toyota chose to keep the same nameplate for a completely different car? Did they fall short of names?
@akhiln9972 жыл бұрын
It's the same as suzuki swift and swift dzire.Same car with different sizes.Length of premium hatchback yaris is more than 4 metres so not feasible for Indian market.

@akhiln9972 жыл бұрын
@Lüvv Sürya Yes, technically, they share similar platform and internals.But Indian version was a stripped-down product to cut cost .So, they will be some visual differences. You can compare yaris sedan of India to one launched in UAE or other countries where it was available.Companies do share the same nameplate for different versions like sedan or hatchback
@LuvvSURYA2 жыл бұрын
@@akhiln997 : All that I can figure out that Yaris hatchback shown here is a complete different car from Yaris sedan that was on sale in India. It doesn’t look like the hatchback version of Yaris sedan as it is with Swift Dezire that actually is a sedan version of Swift and hence the same nameplate. That’s why for me, it doesn’t make any sense why Toyota kept the same nameplate for a completely different car.
@akhiln9972 жыл бұрын
@Lüvv Sürya keeping the same nameplate help them show higher sales of yaris.instead of two small sales from two individual nameplates.This is a third model of yaris in crossover shape what the reviewer is reviewing ,hatchback model is different
