Even if the old points system was still used, while mathematically the results in each championship would've been different there's no guarantee the results would've been the same, The Chase causes the drivers to race differently, maybe if we were still on the old system Jimmie would've race harder knowing all points held the entire season.

Except for the fact that Johnson and Knaus experimented during the summer each year with different setups and a lot of them failed, leading to a lower average finish during those times. Under the old points system they wouldn't have done that, so there's no telling who would really have won.

I agree totally!If you dont have a talented driver, then you cant win. Crew Chiefs dont win races, drivers win. A crew Chief is on the track to help make in race decisions. I.E. To pit or not to pit. how much fuel is needed to finish a race etc... LOWES PRIDE BABY!!!!!

Sounds like you're the one hatin' here... equipment really only goes so far buddy, Dale Earnhardt Jr can tell you that. He's at Hendrick's now and he still sucks even worse than his DEI days. Martin's in his first year with Hendrick and he's already got 2 wins. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are two of the best drivers NASCAR has ever seen... same with Kyle Busch. This is a new era, and the drivers you see are going to be a lot different. And yeah, I'd love to see Martin win this year too.
