This is John Freeman, Carl Jung's interviewer, he interviewed Carl 18 months before Carl G. Jung had died, producing the best 39 minutes interview ever recorded for Jung, u can find it on KZbin. Later, when Carl decided for the first time to write a book presenting part of his idea's to the general public, he choose a a few trusted men to aid him in this book, all of them were psychology specialists and editors of books, except for John Freeman, who later decided to read the book for us.. I appreciate this audio so much....

@@HeartFelt520 No, the AUDIBLE READER is a man named DENNIS ROONEY. John Freeman wrote the INTRODUCTION to the book. He is NOT the narrator/audible reader.

The voice of this reader is decent...It would have been a little better if he wasn't so monotone though. But he is certainly not the worst audible reader I have personally experienced...He definitely "gets the job done" so to speak.

WOW!! What an extraordinary book so far ("Approaching The Unconcious")** written by Carl G. Jung himself. I wish I had read this EARLIER in my life! Astounding! **As of this comment, I haven't gotten to the rest of the essays yet.

Modern man's rationalism, which has destroyed his capacity to respond to numinous symbols and ideas, has put him at mercy of the psychic underworld - he has freed himself from superstition (so he beliefs), but in the process, has lost his spiritual values to a positively dangerous degree.

I appreciate gaining these insights into our shared psychology. I see the african has been very important in the development of this knowledge for the consumption of western minds. I also see the efforts Jung makes to distance the african from knowledge already in his possession before his interactions with the West. I See that Jungs, teachers were black.

I'm just trying to figure out what my dream meant I had in my childhood.. I woke up at night terrified, the wall next to my bed had words written in fire " I am your one and only God and you shall only serve me" and it ended with an eye opening and looking around my room and closing taking the words with it ..I screamed for my dad and told him everything... I had a religious upbringing so I assume it has something to do with that..but what really bothered me Is that it wasn't in my native language, and I couldn't formulate my own sentences in English back then...but I knew what the words on the wall meant Anyway as I got older getting involved in online debates I ironically identified myself as atheist.. no watching Dr Peterson videos I can't say I'm atheist but don't believe in an all knowing being as the Christians portray him to be... Would actually be interesting if someone can give their opinion on it? Is it because of my religious upbringing?
@justwater39242 жыл бұрын
As Carl Jung expresses, the person who can make the most meaning of the symbols is the person who dreamt them himself, however this is my take based on the information given. First you mention the words written in fire followed by an eye looking around your room and taking the words of fire with it. You mentioned having a religious upbringing, I believe this is the core meaning behind the dream. The eye that observes the room and takes the words might’ve been your unconscious self realization of the effect religion was having on you. how that relates to you I’m not sure but maybe it has something to do with not feeling spiritually aligned with Christianity? As for how you understood what the words of fire meant I believe that has to do with the fact that it was a dream and the words did not hold a literal meaning just symbolic meaning. You might not have known how to read or write at the time, but I get the impression you knew how to speak. At this level of understanding, would it be right to assume that you at least knew that words are things that people use to convey things they want to say? Note: Not a certified psychologist though I’m planning to be, I read Carl Jung and stuff as a hobby. Hope this helps!

anyone experiencing heavy allegorical and not ironic, i'm sure, if not then it be an absolutely miraculous (hey i spelled that correctly for the first time maybe ever on the first time through,,,woah heart emoji) and so coincidental that it's not coincidental at ALL but as the man explains himself in his work, seemingly both,as his published memory put as self 1 and 2) that is to say that his work is of that way that through i assume man and his symbols can speak to man and his symbols from across time through man (current awareness of self) and his symbols (or language as i've been rudimentary/workingly referring to it as) ,, now i'm very new to this miraculous (im told miraculouIS-ness) works , and am only retroactively still awestruck awespiciously as i look-over-edit-tastefully add detail/channel more and only worked (as over in my mind and in the awareness he speaks of as a patient's dream about a fourth of his book of memories.etc. (as rilke calls fragments in referance (my affinity for the visiting about france where rilke stayed and dance makes me spell that, THAT WAY) to beloved JP (or IP) Jacobsen..or is it son) it seems allegorical just in it's 12 dreams and potential of disciple refer-dances in the light of westerns christian tradition, and that of new thought authors as the genre police would call them one of which i reference Neville Goddard's 12 diciplines . among many my conciousness let slip as i let slip my metaphoric and in somewhat physical literal and literary tongue
