Interesting . . . I've been listening to his 6 symphonies over the last few days; Nielsen was really good - deserves a lot more air and hall time than he gets. Thanks to people like you who post on YT.

Yes, the symphonies are actually quite extraordinary, daring and well written.

You're quite right. He's been hidden. The more I listen, the more impressed by his craft and his daring

At 8:46, you see that Nielsen was willing to take risks and was a very ''innovative'' composer. Remarkable stuff

The opening bars of the second movement have a striking similarity to parts of the 3rd movement of Shostakovich's 8th symphony.
@julianarculus21423 жыл бұрын
Nielsen's 5th Symphony is so original and anticipates Shostakovich so vividly, it MUST have influenced him!

Un concerto veramente buffo. Nicolet stupendo.

I dunno. All the commenters here like it. I find it too weird and frankly boring.

I agree. His wind instrument concertos are crap. He can never devolbe a meldoy which is easy to listen to. It's always this like randomly generated mess.

And dont get me wrong! I love Carl Nielsen. His symphonies are in my opinnion, easily competing with the greats.
